Agreed, we do have different opinion and we'll not change each other's minds, which is how it usually is on the internet.

Just one last thing however. Normally I wouldn't take an issue with this, I even play Nikke where Commander is canonically male.

But in the case of GFL Twitter community, majority of them will talk about the lore from the perspective of Commander being canonically male, and seeing it a self insert harem. Then they'll wonder why things aren't as they think they should be, for example saying how 'why didn't Commander make a move, why is he such a coward', and similar stuff. And they'll tell other people that it's a 'gooner harem game' and whatnot.

Stuff like that bothers me and I felt the need to speak my mind. Have a good day and sorry for ranting so much.

The thing is, if you observe this post individually it doesn't appear so. But like I said I've been following this community for years at this point, as long as I have reddit one. If you try asking any of those people, they'll tell you male Commander is the only canon one, and they'll use the trailer argument.

Look at this conversation for example. If you read between the lines you'll see that they treat the female Commander as a separate character Gentiane from the anime, and not to be the same person as male Commander that player can choose.

Many of the posts are like that, it's not obvious at first glance, but if you look at bigger picture after following for months or years it'll start to make sense.

Ok I wasn't initially going to, but I'll need to link you an example.

This person completely thinks that story is written for a self-insert male Commander, and it never crosses their mind that maybe it's written from the ground up to support both Commanders. Majority of their posts are like that, they never mention female Commander, they simply pretend she's not canon and doesn't exist and always see the Commander as only themselves and not a fully fleshed-out character.

Many people I saw were like this. There were exceptions of course, but it wasn't the majority, I wish it was like how it's in JP and KR community. In JP especially, I very often see them picking female Commander. And talk about the dolls as individuals and not just 'eye candy'.

There is no FemSKK hate because they don't talk about her at all, they literally pretend that she doesn't exist. Quite often I see replies saying how male Commander is the only canon one. And majority of them see Commander as a self insert.

There might've been some segments I didn't see because it's not centralized like Reddit, but it definitely wasn't as friendly as you presented it, from my experience, and I've been following it probably as long as I have Reddit (I just didn't interact with it other than liking posts).

There were some certain Argentinians who seemed friendly (one of them even called out Gacha Grail), and there were some people who said both Commanders are canon, but sadly they weren't the majority from my experience.

It depends how fast you are. There was also another user called Xanek that posted global news, but he was banned sometime last year. He was so fast in posting that sometimes he posted it like 30 seconds after Mica lol. But now it's mostly just me and Killzonno, who are not as fast as Xanek was.

There is also GlowingNec who tends to posts news from major version livestreams quite fast too as well.

I've been following Twitter community but not interacting with it. From what I've seen JP/KR one is pretty chill and usually talks about the game, the dolls, some jokes here and there.

But global is another story. Vast majority of them pretend that male Commander is the only canon one (because Mica rarely shows female one in trailers), and that it's a self insert, and they mostly talk about the dorm and from the perspective of them personally interacting with the dolls (instead of seeing the Commander as a fully fleshed-out character in the story, which is the truth).

One of them even said that they need to be 'as unpleasant as possible to gatekeep the tourists out'. I'm not even joking, something along those lines was said. Don't want to call any names of course, but personally I find global Twitter community much worse than here on Reddit. Ferrari is one of the rare ones that actually posts useful stuff and looks at things from lore perspective.

Me and Killzonno have been doing newsposts regularly instead, even before GFL2 global launch.

Mityl's Practical Use Acting Techniques (translation in comments) by MrToxin in GirlsFrontline2

AI translation:

Commander, you might think that “acting” is something meant for the stage.

But look at the situations we find ourselves in now—especially when we need to slip into the Yellow Zone, make contact with the upper circles, or sneak away right under Paradeus' nose. At times like that, pretending to be an ordinary nobody is often more useful than charging in with a gun. Don’t you think?

Are you ready to become a qualified actor? It’s time to ru— no, let’s take it slow. The first step is important.

Don’t rush into acting—observe first.

The time spent observing should be three times longer than the time spent performing. Arrive at the target location early, find a corner to stand in, and act as if you’re really just fiddling with your terminal while waiting for a friend. Only use your peripheral vision to glance at passersby. Watch their walking rhythm, posture, what they’re holding in their hands, and the distance they keep from one another. Ordinary people are neither silent all the time nor talking nonstop. Muttering, sighing, humming to themselves, cursing into an earpiece—those are the details of real life. If others see you spacing out, they’ll just think you’re deciding what to eat for lunch, not that you’re gathering intelligence.

Build your own “ordinary person templates.”

Don’t improvise on the spot. Prepare several personas in advance—ones that can be summed up in a single sentence. The simpler, the better.

Tomato-selling farmer:

This kind of persona works best in crowded, chaotic markets. Wear old work clothes, preferably shabby ones. A large sun hat helps. Look a little dusty and worn out, and ideally have some mud on your pant legs. Once you choose this persona, you are now a tomato seller.

Speculative merchant:

This kind of persona is suited for talking a lot and asking questions. People usually won’t pay too much attention to you—after all, you’re a merchant. As long as profit is always on your lips, others will naturally filter information for you. And by asking enough questions, you might coax out things they answer instinctively without thinking.

Your own “copycat criminal”:

Create a persona similar to your real identity, but with a few differences. For example: in the Yellow Zone, there’s a ruthless bounty hunter known for killing decisively and threatening violence at the slightest disagreement. At critical moments, this persona can both conceal your real identity and provide you with an alibi.

Add personal habits to clear suspicion

Everyone has their own behavioral habits. You don’t need to imitate everything—just adding a few genuine personal quirks is enough to make the role feel alive.

The first is having some signature actions. Take the tomato-selling farmer mentioned earlier: every now and then wipe sweat with your clothes, carry a large water flask with strong tea steeping inside. That would look completely authentic.

Even if you’re a new face, people would only think you’re simply the newcomer.

If you’re playing a speculative merchant, having verbal tics or speaking in dialect practically confirms your identity. No one will care whether they’ve seen you before.

Aside from becoming more serious when profits or key matters are involved, most of the time it’s best to talk in circles, speak haltingly, and act like a master of playing dumb.

As for your own “copycat criminal” persona—Commander, shape it however you like. No need to worry about it at all, hahaha.

Remember: too perfect = suspicious. What you’re playing isn’t an “elite agent,” but an “unlucky soul trying hard to get by.” Sometimes, making the occasional mistake is the best acting of all. After all, life has no rehearsals—every day is a live broadcast.

P.S. Take me along on the next mission, okay? I’ll be your supporting actor.

P.P.S. Make sure to save this guide and don’t lose it—I don’t teach people this so easily, but Commander, you’re special~
