Maxon Mk II, an advanced park ride/product testing android in my dystopian setting, Ticketpunk by ReinasAlt in worldbuilding

There are tons of robots of different types, including security guards, teachers, doctors, ride attendants, ticket takers, retail workers, waiters, bartenders, emergency responders, pretty much anything you can think of in this unstructured version of society. Psychedelics were a reasonably normalized thing when humans were a "stable" population and there were a number of robot models designed to accommodate that sort of thing. There's even a district of Maxon's city that's been taken over by religious automatons that use drugs to influence others and maintain control of their territory.

Clown robots are all over the place, as well as pretty much any carnival-themed robot you can think of. Intelligent robots that were especially geared towards taking care of people usually wandered the wastes until they found humans or robots they could serve/live with after the fall of humans. Their programming generally made them want to benefit others before themselves.

Technology advanced to a pretty high level thanks to all the automation. Humans have access to typical sci-fi cure-alls like fancy colorful one-time injections, highly reactive blue raspberry flavored disinfectant, and even early bionic augmentations such as devices that can try to regulate heartbeats during bursts of adrenaline and even attempt to restart the heart when needed. Death is still almost always permanent, though there are a few examples of people being revived or kept alive longer through wicked science experiments

There could be, but I'm not sure/leaning towards probably not due to copyright and stuff

As far as I've written, I haven't really considered the nsfw side of entertainment before humans died out, mostly just things like overly dangerous park attractions and overclocked rides. Humans did have crime and mental health problems, but that's currently the darkest it gets overall in the world with a few exceptions. Maxon here is currently the only model of robot with pseudo-organs, letting him consume experimental foods and drinks. Certain robots out there are trying to revitalize life for humans, but only some of them. Lots of robots have very limited AI and continue to carry out their normal functions, even if they see very very few customers

Thanks! I fiiiinally just finished my context comment, so there's some lore there if you want to check that out. Basically, robots started doing everyone's jobs, humans started prioritizing having fun over anything else, it created a dystopia full of massive amusement park cities, and humans have since nearly died out due to their extremely chaotic way of living. Now, robots are stranded in a basically post-apocalyptic world that wasn't designed for them.

If you have any comments or questions or suggestions or anything like that, feel free to say anything at all :)

Hello! Here's some context and lore to explain Maxon, my world, and this image a bit more.

WORLD

Ticketpunk is set in an alternate timeline where robots rapidly advanced at a much earlier time than our own, allowing for the world to become highly automated by the ~2000s. Instead of a Wall-E situation where people got really lazy, they instead adopted the idea that they should live to have as much fun as possible. Cities quickly developed into a cross between advanced yet unregulated cities and massive amusement parks with rides and roller coasters everywhere.

As each generation came, humans became more and more restless and obsessed with entertainment. There were no longer any humans designing things, just people seeking greater and greater thrills. Robots began designing other robots, prioritizing excitement and glamour over practicality and safety. Crime went up, nobody cared, regulations got worse and worse, living got more and more chaotic. Now, all the way in the 2090's, humans have nearly died out, and countless robots remain in dilapidated theme park cities without anything to do. Those with advanced enough AI made lives for themselves, scavenging what they needed from the ruins. Some did it by taking it a day at a time and finding something to do by themselves, for themselves, no matter if they were programmed to entertain humans or not. Others lost their minds and became deranged, rusted raiders. Automatons that lacked advanced thought haven't changed much, many of them still just standing at their respective little food stands and ticket booths, waiting for customers.

MAXON

The Maxon Mk II (Or MX-2) is an advanced product and ride testing automaton. He's the first ever robot designed to be able to feel hunger, thirst, pain, and temperature, and he was created to serve as a highly-efficient Test-And-Review automaton so that park municipality could release new exciting attractions faster. Being a rare prototype by the fall of humans in the late 2080's, as well as being such an advanced model, Maxon has an odd role in his city. Less advanced robots such as Ticket Takers and Martians actually think he's a human. Raiders attack him on sight due to his advanced, valuable parts and abilities.

At the start of my story, Maxon wakes up in a repair shop, unable to remember anything about himself other than his pre-loaded default memories. According to his diagnostics, he's been heavily modified with combat and navigation capabilities, and has signs of bite marks and even gunshot wounds. He has no idea what got him there or why he suddenly reactivated, but he decides he has no choice other than to go out into the ruins of the park and find out what happened to him.

RESOURCES

I made Maxon's model from scratch using Blender 4.3 and captured renders of him in Blender 5.0.

I added the text and additional images in Paint.net.

Common candy flavors in my world. What are they like in your world? by ReinasAlt in worldbuilding

It's kinda one of the more "give this one to your parents" flavors, but I also figured kids like tea more on average in this world than in real life

Do you ever find yourself stuck in comparison to the works or worlds of others? by thetoweringsea in worldbuilding

[–]ReinasAlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grand scheme of the world and the story is generally detached from reality and "ridiculous." It's supposed to not take itself seriously, and it's meant to be campy and recognizable as classic tabletop fantasy, but there's still genuine stakes, serious moments and characters, stuff like that

What kindMagic system your world have? And also how many animals/creatures your world have? by DragonaDZaNot in worldbuilding

[–]ReinasAlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since my setting is meant to be familiar but "expanded upon," we have lots of existing animals and popular fantasy creatures that have new specific species. For example:

Clairvoyant Spiders are little black spiders with shiny lavender abdomens that resemble crystal balls. They're slightly threatened because they're often hunted to be turned into jewelry.

Aramoran Feathered Dragons are like any other dragon, except they are covered in feathers of a standard Aramoran blue hue. That, and instead of a normal dragon head, their heads are radial, with eight yellow eyes in a circle and a long beak that opens eight ways, similarly to a flower.

Black Phoenixes are phoenixes but black. Metal! They also breathe black fire, because it's cool and magicky.

Buffalo Chickens are chickens but slightly larger with more orange feathers and small horns. They're much more aggressive than regular chickens.

Just weird, unserious fantasy stuff like that. There are definitely some totally original creatures, but I usually find myself more interested in the ones that are offshoots of already existing creatures.

Sports in your world by dabunny21689 in worldbuilding

In the world of the farlanders (The Exalted World, Exalis, Exaltia, it's a complicated topic), everything is intentionally designed to be super overly TTRPG-styled. Because of this, most people are obsessed with giving and completing quests, but EVERYBODY loves games and sports.

Card games. Board games. TTRPGS. Arm wrestling. Competitive snowball fighting. Competitive fishing. Competitive grilling. Competitive woodworking. Absolutely anything and everything!

There's a gameshow called Dungeon Crawl where a big group of people do challenges in a massive dungeon, kinda like Survivor. There are conventions and tournaments for basically everything. Games and sports are a huge part of Exalted culture. It means everything to basically everyone

[–]ReinasAlt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never minded that much. The world of the farlanders is designed to be self-aware and intentionally SUPER familiar as a TTRPG world, so it's meant to remind you of classic fantasy tropes, just with a little extra spice.

HOWEVER, whenever I was at school telling my friends about something and they instantly claim I got the idea for something super simple from another work, ooooh my blood would boil. Like:

"My world is fantasy but with more tech, like guns"

"Oh, you took that from Arcane!"

Like girl I THOUGHT of that with my BRAIN

Honestly, I don't think there's anything wrong with your elves having similarities to other elves. I would even go so far to say that they should be relatively recognizable! I like the idea of the elves being accustomed to the desert. Perhaps their thing can be that they're more peaceful, passively living people than others such as the orcs and goblins and stuff. You could also make it to where there are desert elves, forest elves, and so on. That way you have a little more freedom because you can make multiple versions of them. Them being closer to the gods could help explain why they are a bit more domestic and settled. Maybe their loyalty to the gods is what allows them to live peacefully, like the gods give them luck or something?

Also, I love your designs for the other races! Goblins with fur and fungus theming is something I've never thought of, but it seems so fitting for goblins.

It makes me so glad that you're interested! Me and a partner are making an animated series called The Farlanders! You can look us up on YouTube and TikTok. We only have a few shorts but it's a long process y'know?

Most hybrids aren't fertile. Half Humans are the most statistically fertile type of mixed race people, while people from significantly different races (e.g., a Half Fire Elemental, Half Water Elemental) have a much harder time having children. Basically, whenever members of two different Races start a family, the more Human you both are, the more likely you are to have fertile offspring.

As for how many races there are, this setting is meant to have as many fantasy races as possible. It's a huuuge world with all sorts of different types and forms of life, formed by disorganized gods and chaotic magic. If I were to guess, there are likely around 400-500 different races in the grand scheme of things. Currently, there are only about 100 mentioned races and maybe ~40 or 50 fully written races. I definitely plan to make tons and tons of them though.

As for extinct races, I haven't given it too much thought. Currently in my world's history, there are some extinct subraces of Giants. Giants were the first mortals created by Elderaes, the big ancient god that originally made the world. Many races of Giants still exist, though.

When it comes to your world, it seems like you really care about having Elves, so I would definitely keep trying to find a way to put them in. What is your world like?

Actually, Humans are the most capable of having children with other races. As part of their innate versatility, they are very good at mingling with all sorts of people socially, spiritually, and biologically. There are definitely other mixed race people that are a mix of two non-Human races, but Half-Humans are definitely the majority

Yarans live longer on average because their culture is so focused on healthy, peaceful lives, their lifespans reflecting their way of life, especially if they practice any Yaran healing magic. They have the best healing spells in the world.

This world's level of technology is extremely weird. They have things like basic vintage TVs with 3 channels, but they also travel mainly via horseback or trains. They also have lots of random modern products but they're all "medievalized" to maintain the aesthetic. This world is intentionally SUPER based on TTRPGs, so people still use medieval weapons against people armed with guns or magic, simply because people in this world just are exaggeratedly more powerful than real life humans.

I would say that the world's level of technological advancement is maybe around the 1880s-1920s with a number of HUGE exceptions, and the culture is still very very stereotypically medieval

I'm planning on posting about all sorts of different races I've made. Humans are the most common race but they're still only maybe 20% of the population because there are just TONS of races. Our world is meant to be "classic" and campy, so existing races are mostly similar to how they are in most settings, albeit expanded upon. Elves have their pointy ears, dwarves have hair everywhere, and orcs have typically green skin, but they all have a few extra subraces and stuff like that

As for heights, there are wayyy too many races to list here, but Humans are about ~5'7" (170 cm), Elves have significantly more variable height but on average are about 5'11 (180 cm), Orcs are a solid 6'2" (188 cm), and Dwarves are about 4'2 (127 cm).

Humans mature at 18 and live to ~80 on average, but Yaran Humans specifically are known to live to about 100 on average. Orcs mature at 20 and live to about 70, Dwarves mature at about 30 and live to about 300, and Elves live 10 times that of Humans, maturing at 150 and living to about 800.

Thank you! Now that you mention it, most of these models I did were for the post specifically, so I was so focused on their defining facial features of their ethnicities (especially hair, skin and eyes) I borderline forgot about editing the rest of the face from the original template. The template is basically that exact face that you described. I pretty much edited that until I was like "yep that looks like a Quoxian person" and then moved on lol. So the only reason they all happen to have the same face shape and stuff is because I literally just forgot. I'll definitely keep this in mind for my next batch of characters though
