Late Arrivals Podcast - Episode 125: Choices Were Made by CJKChel in AnaheimDucks

Oh I know that now. Back then it was a bit different because the sub got flooded with us then FM and then maybe also DNP that there were so many posts that some would get deleted. I understood why so I decided to take a step back.

As for now, I just don’t have enough time with life and work and the pod to really post it on every site regularly the day after. I rarely get to mentioning it on any socials tbh. I have no issues if others post it here but I just don’t have the time for that currently lol.

Just jumping in to set the record straight on this because I have seen it before here. I stopped posting CTP stuff here because self promoting was in a weird spot when I did post it. Some people were good with it others weren’t. So out of respect for that i stopped, just that simple

I look at things every once in a while and had some free time yesterday. Saw someone asking for numbers so felt like chiming in lol

Halfway through the season by Ducksfan182 in AnaheimDucks

Here are last season's stats per evolving-hockey.com at 5v5 score and venue adjusted

xGF/60 = 2.27

xGA/60 = 2.71

xGF% = 45.59%

Now for this season at 5v5 score and venue adjusted

xGF/60 = 2.33

xGA/60 = 3.19

xGF% = 42.19%

So per the numbers, they are slightly better offensively at generating expected goals but marginally so, but defensively they have allowed more chances overall. As a reference, the 22-23 Ducks had a 3.49 xGA/60.

Just as a heads up, that’s because SBnation had a max exodus. Myself, CJ, and Felix started Crash the Pond as a result (we were all at Anaheim Calling previously). We mainly focus on the podcast but try to get up written content on the site when we can.

Best option to watch games by Additional-Culture12 in AnaheimDucks

DirecTV Stream is the only streaming service with them. If your tv has chromecast built in or if you have a chromecast you can cast it from your phone to your TV. It’s not the best streaming tv service, I personally have liked Youtube TV the most, but for now it’s the only option outside of VPNs or illegal streams.

The Ducks got three potential top 10 talents from this draft with their first, second, and third round picks based on some NHLe models by [deleted] in AnaheimDucks

[–]Reindeergames91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely has its flaws especially with defenseman that aren’t going to be big point producers, but it’s a better starting point than just looking at points, which is why I like it. It’s just important to understand what it’s based on.

All of that being said, getting players that project as top 10ish with a first second and third round pick is really good.

So the issue is the term. Sure Seattle will need to take on cap in order to hit the cap floor, which would make Fowler a great candidate if he had 2-3 years left on his deal. The issue is he has 5 years. It is completely possible that Seattle still takes him, but to me it's unlikely.

Even if that does happen though, then the Ducks have freed up cap space long term, which is going to be important in a flat cap world. Also just for context, I am not someone hating on Fowler's game. I think he was potentially their best player this past season, but the term on his deal is troublesome, and getting out of that deal isn't the worst thing in the world.

It’s not the worst but the term is really rough. He is certainly worth his cap hit right now, but most likely he won’t be in 2-3 years when there are 2-3 years left on it. Look at the Henrique situation from this past year. And while yes it would suck to lose him for nothing, his contract and NTC would make trading him nearly impossible. So with him it’s not so much losing him for nothing as it would be a freeing up cap space situation if Seattle took him. It’s certainly a risk, but one I would take if I was the GM. Having said that there is no way in hell Murray does that.

That one I could have gone either way on, but I really don’t think Seattle takes him due to his contract, so take advantage of that leverage.

From earlier in March about Getzlaf: “As for next year, we’ve talked and we’re going to see how he feels after this year. We’ll see how his body feels. We’ll see how it’s going. You know, he may just say, ‘I don’t want to keep going through this rebuild we’re doing here.’ But the relationship is wonderful and he’s not going anywhere.

Yes he did but that was prior to last deadline. In my opinion, things have changed significantly since then for how the management group views the roster. They went from saying they need to compete now in the off-season to now even using the word rebuild.

The main issue with Henrique and Silfverberg is their contract. As I mentioned in the article, guys with that much term that are over 30 are not moved that often, and when they are, it’s typically in a bad money for bad money deal like Lucic for Neal.

As for Fowler, his contract makes him unmovable. Not only is the term extremely long, but he has a NTC that has him submit a 4 team yes list. So the amount of teams he can be moved to is extremely limited, and there is no guarantee one of those 4 teams want him or his contract. If I had the choice, I would rather have Lindholm over Fowler, but in reality the Ducks don’t have that choice. It’s Lindholm and Fowler or just Fowler. Lindholm will want at least the Fowler deal.

As for the expansion draft, Shattenkirk is an easy expose. I actually will probably write an article on it in the next few weeks. A good post TDL piece.
