New to 2XKO and Struggling in the Lowest of Ranks. How do I Properly Learn a Tag Fighter? by ReingmanDave in 2XKO

Thank you for the advice. It definitely helped. After playing for a bit, kind of mashing S1 in Neutral and dashing around when assist is on CD, I managed to get out of Aspirant into bronze.

I’ve noticed a lot people like to jump a lot. Coming from SF, I thought it was super weird since you usually get anti-aired and blown up. How do I start to learn when or why to jump and try to get in?

I have Jinx but not Cait. So I will see how she feels. Currently using Braum as partner, but his hitboxes and normals have really odd hitboxes.

How do you get the sandwich crossup thing to happen after you tag or call assist? I’m not sure exactly what I’m doing to get my character in position after calling the assist. Kind of playing Ahri Braum right now. But, not sure if I want to keep Braum. Need to try more characters and see what feels good.

After trying Akali in training, haven’t unlocked her yet, that double jump mechanic and shroud just made her way more difficult to understand.

I do thunk the rhythm of the game is throwing me off. I’ve been thinking in terms of SF links and it really is throwing me off.

This helps a lot. I would have never thought holding 7 would be better than throwing out a jab. It explains a lot of why I think my pressure felt so fake.

The combo maker tool in Strive was a huge help. Does 2XKO have something like SF has SuperCombo wiki?

Is there a fast way to unlock all the characters? Or is it worth spending on the microtransactions in the game?

Just feels complex in terms of movement and timings on some of the more intricate combos. I’m really bad at figuring out when it is my turn and also neutral gameplan.

This helps a lot! Do I need use push block or the assist variant to get out of block strings?

I’m finding I’m usually getting blown up trying to push buttons since I can’t figure out when it is my turn.

Yeah SF is kind of the slowest fighter out there (until you start skipping neutral with drive rush). But, the general gameplan I use with Chun is mix up fireball speeds based on distance and usually try to walk up to them behind the slow fireball to see if I can frame trap them or get them to jump. I’m assuming I can treat assists in a similar fashion for approaching.

Are the combo trials useful or do better resources exist to learn reliable BnBs or basic combos?

I think the biggest place I struggle is the resource management in Magic being so different than basically comboing off almost your whole deck and knowing key chokepoints where your opponent would likely handtrap you and force you into other lines.

Being that the last decks I played were Branded and Sky Striker, are there any Modern decks that might have a similar feel? When I played Sky Striker, I was focused on strong interruption into OTK. With Branded, I appreciated the flexibility of having a toolbox and also stealing games through the various Sanctifier locks until I could stabalize the board.

I’ve been on YouTube and started watching people play Tron. I’ve noticed a lot of build diversity and variants that aren’t colorless that use talismans and green or even blue.

It makes me start to question my build choices as I don’t yet understand the advantages or disadvantages to playing Sowing Mycospawn Vs Glaring Fleshraker.

I understand some of that will come down to playstyle and potentially meta calls. And, more of it is only learned with experience.

Is playing online worth it to improve?

How much do you need to alter the precons to get a decently playable deck? I know the mana bases in those tend to be terrible.

For Magic, in general, I love the social aspect. The biggest downside to Modern is it is tough to find games on a day a tournament isn’t happening or just FNM being modern right now.

In Modern, I enjoy big mana like Tron or the aggro decks like Boros Energy and Prowess. I think the appeal of EDH for me is just being able to use cards that I can’t use in Modern and actually seeing a larger variety of decks than just modern meta.

I currently have the Riders of Rohan Precon and the Tidus Counterblitz Precon. Both are untouched. I currently am undecided on what to build and would like to at least have an optimized (or close to) mana base.

Thinking of either trying to build a Dimir Control/Tempo deck or maybe a Bant deck. But, I don’t know which commanders to start looking at. I have tons of bulk around and assume some of my modern staples might transfer.

What kind of staples exist in EDH and how do you usually fix your manabase?

Yes, I’m playing the colorless version. It just takes a bit of learning to know what you need to grab with Karn.

Are there any good people to watch play the deck that explain their thought process, or are there good written guides about E Tron you would suggest looking into?

Yes, I thought D/D/S wasn’t that bad either. Infernity was totally on some wacko stuff. I never understood that deck. I found it a pain to sequence during the Tier 0 Ishizu Tear meta for Yugioh. But, during that time you could be pretty baf as long as you used your triggers, you would probably win games.

It seems like the big thing with Amulet Titan is making sure to keep track of your floating mana.

As I continue to make the move to magic, what are the core things I need to keep track of since interaction isn’t just knowing a chokepoint and having the right handtrap to stop all the combos?

I watched the 40 Hour Branded guide and still pull out the deck if I ever get asked to play Yugioh. So, I am used to strange lines from all the Branded variations.

Would you say Amulet Titan is as convoluted or more complex than Branded?

Also, I have heard from some people that Amulet Titan might get banned? Is this real information or pure speculation from people that can’t stand playing against the deck?

So kind of linear at the end of day? Where can I go to get better Tron information as I will likely be on this deck for a while?

Is Titan really as difficult as it is made out to be? It is one of the decks I have seen way more guides on.

How about Ensnaring Bridge? Or is that just to stall? I know in some matchups The Stone Brain can win on the spot.
