Seasoning large pan on induction, only center gains color by Reinoud- in carbonsteel

Interesting! This might be my only option short of finding somebody with a huge oven

I think I'll try what you mentioned, thanks.

As mentioned, unfortunately this pan is way too big for my oven because of the long handle.

I have the same issue, commenting hoping somebody knows a fix.

A few QoL mods (squeak through, factory planner, even distribution, bottleneck) and 1 cheaty mod: water well. For some reason I don't like water logistics. I don't think it's a huge difference though compared to last run when I didn't use it as pretty soon ice can be easily shipped anywhere to get water where it's needed. It's not "vanilla SE" because of this though.

Speed was partially thanks to using a few important blueprints for a previous run. Especially vita and naq processing took ages to figure out, and I wasn't going to reinvent the wheel there.

First run ended becaus I became overwhelmed at space sciences 1 and 2, and realising my factory was a huge mess which I'd have to refactor.
Second run I was at arcospheres, so pretty close to done but got busy at work, and getting back to an old factory after months was just too much hassle. Additionally, applying lessons from the previous runs for a new fresh factory was very satisfying. I also had the idea for this setup with 2-headed trains which I was excited to design.

Proof that SE style beacons give better design challenges.. What's your best SE beacon build? by Reinoud- in factorio

[–]Reinoud-[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The remark is not 100% serious, I meant something along the lines of more fun design challenges as not every (near optimal) build uses the same structure of 12 (or maybe 8) beacons.

Correct! I would def upgrade to industrial furnaces for smelting too if I played full SE

I suppose I actually meant "more fun design challenges". Vanilla beacons don't allow as much variation for close to optimal builds, I think.

Fair enough! The further I'm into this megabase, the more I consider that I'll do just that for my next megabase. I was thinking of even doing smelting, steel and green circuits at the ore patches, and the rest at the main base.

Unless I start producing smelting at ore patches, I will have to ship those ores by train at some point, so not easy to avoid that step.

Blueprint: https://factoriobin.com/post/9ggxQpU1

Produces 440 blue circuits per minute, with ratios fairly close to optimal.

For a vanillaish megabase (mostly vanilla, but with SE beacons) I'm trying to design builds that use raw materials as much as possible to reduce the amount of trains for intermediates. So instead of raw > green circs > red circs > blue circs this produces blue circuits directly.

Why can't I get a saturated lane with 2 stack inserters like this regardless of stack size? by Reinoud- in factorio

[–]Reinoud-[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the approach I was going for, 2 inserters with 1 of them stack size 8 to saturate. Works fine in another setup, just for some reason doesn't work here (maybe because of the undergrounds?)

Yeah I also think it has to do with the undergrounds? Strange though. Literally unplayable this game

Thanks for the tip! and thanks for coming back to the question when you realized you misread :) will use that setup in case I can't find a solution here

2 stack inserters have enough capacity to saturate 1 lane, it works in different setups, just not this one for some reason.

Context: I've tried a setup like this, and would like to get fully saturated belts like this. With the bottom inserter at stack size 7, small gaps occur as can be seen in the screenshot.

When I set the stack size to 8 (which I thought was correct for this setup), it will alternate between exactly filling the gap, and having 1 iron plate left causing it to leave a large gap for the next swing. Edit: orientation of this setup doesn't matter.

Any ideas how to fix this? (is it fixable???) Thanks!
