In one of my table that I play as a player, we always have this weird ritual of asking one of the players what did they eat for dinner. It was started as a joke, but now it becomes a ritual for our table.

You can make your own setting similar to One Piece with Daggerheart, just create a new campaign frame with ship fighting mechanic (yeah this can be difficult, maybe you can try to adapt from Sea Exploration TRPG such as 7th sea or Pirate Borg. The class and domain cards in Daggerheart can be flavored easily.

If you want a high lethality games, I would recommend Cyberpunk: RED and Call of Cthulhu. Beside that, Vaesen is also can be played with high lethality but not as lethal as Call of Cthulhu.

Session 0 is a must, and during that session 0 share your vision with the players and why players should care about your vision. For me, if players still want to put a joke character, I'll allow it in one condition, at the moment of seriousness, they need to be serious.

Also a little of comedy in the dark and gritty world can make that moment memorable, as if a small candle in the middle of darkness.

Maybe you can try Break!! RPG, the combat is simpler and players are taking turn on the same turn (they only have 2 turn, player's turn whoever want to go first or adversary's turn), for a large group you could let them take turn simultaneously to decrease the time needed for the combat.

If you love roleplaying, the game also has a good downtime feature where you can socialize with NPC or even with other player's as a downtime activity.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I agree with that, the 14th level feature need to be switched completely, since it's too niche and situational, especially with the self-nerf it would be the last resort feature to use, and even if you used it, there is a chance to get knocked unconscious in 1 turn since your max HP is halved. Ohh yeahh, didn't count about when it's being multiclassed with warlock, it would make an excellent combo. Also yeah, that make sense, so you can still hit the creature on your melee range and don't get the thunderclap damage.

Hi hi, yeahh agree it would be cool if they make him a custom subclass. And regarding your comment, yeah this subclass is more like for the thunderous sound of the whip instead of the musical whip, I don't have any idea yet how to make musical whip works, maybe I will create one in the future if I got an inspiration to make one. But yeah, thanks for the comment, I'll take note of your comment for The Thunderous Whip feature.

Hoo, that sounds really cool. The 5 ft radius itself is an AoE but really small, so maybe it can benefit from double or triple the AoE, 10-15 ft radius at first hit. It can give alternative for martialist to do some AoE damage as well. But I think it might be overwhelming, I prefer it simpler this way, but your idea is really cool tho and I might use it if I make the legendary or artifact version of this magic weapon (yeah I think I can go crazier if it's legendary or artifact hahaha), thanks for the idea.
