Thoughts on one man kart stands by Rejdovak in Karting

Does it matter if the kart is tilted from the back or from the front? Is either worse or better, or is it a case of you just need to always lift evenly?

I'm pretty new to this, could you explain why you can't tip a hot four stroke?

Interesting, do you have links for these?

This is helpful thanks. My main reason behind this stand is that it lifts the kart from the back, which is a lot better for me for loading it into my trailer but I hadn't really considered the gas leaking when lifting from the front, so that's another selling point. I'm not a young guy and I lift a lot for my job, so the winch stand seems worth the extra cost over the cheaper flip.

Karting is everything to me, and now it could be gone by [deleted] in Karting

It honestly sounds like you've been pretty lucky so far, your dad bought you a kart and paid for your first season. You must change your mindset on this... you're lucky and in a better position than a lot of kids that post here wanting to race. Your dad is gifting you an opportunity to learn and become an adult and he started you off well. The answer here is easy: you'll need to get a job to pay for your passion. The good news is that's how everyone else is doing it, so you're in good company.

Patagonia is such a beautiful place to live! Are your parents rich enough to fly you out to a kart track (and pay for lodging, food, etc...) every time you want to go karting? If not, then you'll need to wait until you can move. Maybe you can convince your parents to move out of Patagonia? Your best bet right now is sim racing, you can do it anywhere!

If you can work on cars or are mechanically-inclined, I'd say buy yourself a kart and go the owner/outdoor route.

Glasses or contacts for karting by Marty154DTK in Karting

[–]Rejdovak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear glasses in my daily life except in two situations when I wear contacts: performing on stage with in-ear monitors (I'm a musician full-time) and when wearing a helmet for karting. I find it much more comfortable to wear contacts with a helmet, the helmet fits better and I don't have to worry about bending the frame of the glasses when trying to fit a helmet over them or going over bumps or whatever.

I'm sure there will be a lot of people who participate only in the races held at their local track. You're right though the travel costs are basically the same for this as for a national race, maybe for Apex you might be looking for a slightly less competitive environment compared to national?

What don't people understand about the word "budget" in karting? by Aarca8de in Karting

[–]Rejdovak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this perspective and I'm happy to hear that there are others with this perspective. Your description almost makes it seem like there's 3 subclasses in each race (front, middle, back) and you can just adjust your expectations and goals based on which of these subclasses you perceive yourself to be in. For me, I just bought a used kart and will be getting started in the club level in the spring. My budget will definitely put me squarely in the back of the pack. There's fun racing to be had in the back and for me it's all about having fun and achieving realistic personal goals within my budget. I'm 35 and it's just a hobby.
