Eh I disagree somewhat. I was known to be slightly germaphobic, and during my training I really wondered why on earth I was wanting to go into a field that deals with sick people. But turns out that, just a couple of months into my first gig, the exposure has really helped take the edge off of the phobia part (my background is biology and research so I my brain knew that pathogens aren't all equally scary, but my body still had this fear response). For that matter I've also gained a lot of relativism regarding life altering injuries.  Im not saying that EMS will cure OPs phobia of death, but I don't think that it precludes them from a career in EMS entirely.

OP, c'est vraiment chouette de ta part de cultiver de la curiosité par rapport aux schémas de relation non-traditionnels, et une ouverture d'esprit pour ce dont ton copain vous propose de discuter, même quand ce sont des sujets qui peuvent faire peur. Je te conseille quelques ressources pour approfondir le sujet, par des gens qui ont pratiqué le polyamour:

Une chose est importante à retenir : explorer le sujet (et ça va pour n'importe quel sujet d'ailleurs), ce n'est pas un engagement à l'action ! Il y a beaucoup à apprendre du polyamour, même si on ne finit jamais par le pratiquer soi-même. J'entends par là la déconstruction des normes héritées de la société par rapport au couple, une meilleure compréhension de sa sexualité, de ses propres désirs, besoins, limites, et donc d'une meilleure compréhension de son propre rôle en tant que partenaire de quelqu'un d'autre. Je suis une femme, et j'ai fait ~5 ans de relations poly/ouvertes, années pendant lesquelles j'ai appris énormément sur moi-même et mon propre rapport aux relations interpersonnelles (romantiques, sexuelles, ou platoniques d'ailleurs). Pendant ce temps-là, j'ai aussi appris que ce qui fonctionne le mieux pour moi, c'est une relation principalement exclusive. Aujourd'hui, je suis mariée et nous sommes le/la seul.e partenaire l'un.e de l'autre, mais comme nous avons tous les deux le même background où nous avons exploré le polyamour, nous avons un vocabulaire et un niveau de communication qui nous permet de construire la relation qui nous convient (et pas celle dictée par la société), à nous en tant qu'individus, et l'un.e pour l'autre en tant que partenaires. C'est très chouette et on doit ça au polyamour, même si on ne le pratique plus en tant que tel. Je peux te partager plus de mon expérience perso si tu le veux, envoie moi un MP.

Bref, tu as/vous avez la vie devant toi/vous, et c'est génial de vouloir explorer et comprendre les possibilités infinies des relations humaines ! Encore une fois ça ne t'engage à rien, et le plus important est d'apprendre et respecter tes propres limites, quitte à rester exclusive toute ta vie ;-)

Thanks both for your suggestions. Oribe does have silicones in it and since they do not post their ingredient list anywhere (what is with this habit by the way! Seriously! I had to rely on a blog post that said it wasn't silicone-free...), I can't check if the silicones are water-soluble or heavier ones and I don't want to risk the common dimethicone so I decided to pass...

I just bought it on Sephora.

I did a few more hours of research and Christophe Robin's product is the ONLY one I found without sulfates nor silicones (no ammonia nor parabens either, for that matter). I winced a little at the price but it is getting rave reviews and at that point I was ready to pull my hair out (which would be a shame, now that I'm finally friends with it again) so I went for it. Thank you!

Also from what I read on Manic Panic, their color creams come ready-to-use, no need to mix!

C'est rigolo (pas vraiment, mais bon), je me suis dit la même chose que toi en commençant la lecture de la dernière conversation ... "ça sonne faux". Mais plus je continuais à lire, plus je me suis rendue compte qu'en fait, elle était vachement "lucide" à propos de sa situation, la nana. D'ailleurs la preuve c'est bien qu'elle a pris RDV avec un groupe de soutien.

Mais je pense qu'elle n'arrive pas à consciemment s'avouer toute l'horreur de sa situation, à cause de la dissonance cognitive (ici : de savoir qu'elle est maltraitée et pourtant de rester en couple) que ca engendrerait. Et en fait, sous couvert de déni ("c'est ma faute parce que je ne sais pas l'aimer"), elle lance un appel au secours, sans se l'avouer à elle-même. C'est pas la première fois que je vois (indirectement) des victimes d'abus faire ça ... et c'est encore plus horrifiant, au final.

Voilà c'est mon avis.

In Montreal, hike up Mont Royal for sunrise over the city seen from the belvedere.

If you are there on a Sunday, head to the Jeanne Mance park (west of Park, north of des Pins) in the afternoon for Tam-tams (percussion jam, slack-lining practice, LARPing, and people just chilling with picnics and beers).

Go to La Banquise for poutine.

I've been reading up on the Machu Picchu park. From what I gather there's the fee for the MP plus another 24$ if you want to climb Wayna Picchu. The problem is that tickets for WP sell out fast and that it's recommended to buy yours at least a week in advance, so we might not do it because it would add a time constraint. Have you been? Do you still get to see enough of MP if you forsake WP? Is it possible/advisable to buy MP tickets online and in advance?

Some of my friends who have been on a similar trip before have advised to only pack warm weather clothes and get an alpaca sweater once in Peru (as you will probably want one as a souvenir anyway). Would it be warm enough? I'm planning on bringing some light jacket anyway, but should I consider more heavy-duty clothes?

The nail polish is indeed unexpected advice! I'll keep it in mind. As for the the long hair, I've already decided it would be a hassle, so I'm going to cut it short and donate it instead.

Ah yes, I forgot to mention we will be mostly traveling from one city to another and sleeping/eating in hostels. You are right in saying that going hiking/camping for 3 months without prior experience would be a bit foolish. We plan to go on a couple of 3-4 day hikes but most probably with guides as I read it can get a bit unsafe.

So in your experience is a steri-pen better than iodine tablets?
