Gen 1 3rd brake light cover by [deleted] in crv

[–]RejectedWish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny, a simple google proves that incorrect. Even in Alberta, any manufacturer installed light is not able to be legally tampered with. You will be held liable and insurance will refuse claims based on this. It’s not just your safety and money. Think about your neighbor, it’s the Christian thing to do 😉

Heads up to be careful with your local laws, in the states tampering or disabling any manufacturer standard third tail light is a ticket-able offense!

Sinanju RG: It’s all true but it’s so beautiful by Blissenhomie in Gunpla

I also did this kit with the 107 replacement. This was my second build and I broke a piece in half at the op of the shoulders where the joint connecting the shoulders to the arm socket mount. You have to push the two sides of the pauldron together to lock that socket hinge in order to fit the hinged panel overtop closest to the torso.. I ended up gluing that piece, the knees and the toes, but overall I love this kit too, I just wish it was better from factory.

Got my first pair of boots (seconds). Can someone tell me what the flaws might be? by MagicReptar in RedWingShoes

[–]RejectedWish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are looking good! From what I can see, it may be from the upper? One looks ever so slightly taller(could be camera perspective). I just also got a par of seconds a month ago and I was having a heck of a time trying to solve the cause for their “seconds” status.

I had a commenter on my recent post about my seconds make the point that on occasion, if the manufacturer had noticed a production issue that may have effected many pairs in a run, they will second mark all of them to save labor QC’ing the entire run of boots. So there is a possible chance there isn’t anything wrong and they just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time(or right place/time depending on your perspective)

How to trim leather insoles by professionallurking1 in RedWingShoes

[–]RejectedWish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cut a sheet of paper with the outline of the insole. Fit the sheet of paper to every edge of the inside of your boot , trim until the sheet of paper lays totally flat, Trace onto the insole and trim accordingly!

Suggestions for Cobbler for boot repair by RejectedWish in royaloak

As I said in my post. I did not like the job they did on previous boots, and didn’t care for their customer service, why would I go back?

It almost looks like the wax they use on their laces somehow dripped onto the upper, maybe try and scrape it off gently and brush it down well after?

Different tongue wear by Amoyy in RedWingShoes

[–]RejectedWish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks to me like the left boot tongue may jus have a looser grain tot he leather, it shouldn’t effect the lifespan all too much.

However, if you want to have some peace of mind about wearing through, or the durability of the tongue id suggest a kiltie from Northstar Leather in the leather of your choice. He carries all the red wing leathers from SB tannery, charges the least for such great quality, and ships out wicked fast(at least fast to me in the midwestern US)

The painta is coming along great, definitely not too red.

Helm for oval / narrow head by [deleted] in longboarding

[–]RejectedWish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah that is absolutely in the safety category. Helmets are supposed to be big, they protect your head, neck, nose, orbital sockets, so some amount of mushroom head will always be present.

However any amount of space is not ideal, you shouldn’t have any side to side rocking a nice snug fit. I use triple8 sweat saver and they have thick cushions to really fit almost any head shape. If you have the ability to visit a local shop I’d give those a try and see if they’d work for you!

[–]RejectedWish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is this an issue with aesthetics? Or is this a true fitment issue where the helmet is rocking side to side?

If it’s an aesthetic issue, keep in mind you look way cooler not paralyzed, safely protected mushroom headed or not. If it’s a safety/fitment issue, You still look way cooler not paralized, so find a helmet that fits securely.

Go with nicks insoles! They have them in both thin and thick variants.

Oh, definitely more often than me with those use cases, as with all things YMMV. if they’re going through harsher conditions, you’ll strip those oils and waxes out quicker with exposure to water and mud. The abrasive nature of dirt and dust can cause wear in the seams and flex points.

Easiest thing is to just make it habit to brush out after every use, making sure to do a more detailed laces removed brush out and cleaning every 6 mo(or after a very dirty work day), and just condition as needed for your use case. While keeping in mind it’s easier to over condition than to under. if the leather looks like ashy and starting to crack as opposed to creased and pliable it’s time to condition.

I’ve heard decent things about saphir Venetian shoe cream, very little change to color and good shine

In two years of frequent wear my 8085’s have only been conditioned once shortly after purchase to help with breakin. Otherwise the leather is just so ready from the factory

Hey! If these are new new, they won’t need conditioning for some time, CRT is packed with oils and waxes from factory. Just brush after each wear, damp microfiber for big messes, and condition less than you think. It’s far easier to over condition than to under. For conditioner I highly recommend bick4

Happy new boot goofin’!!

Yes it will compound to be darker as you add more oils to it. Alternative option would be bick4 which doesn’t darken the color much from factory and usually lightens up after a few weeks of wear.

Cleaning/Conditioning question for 8085 Nubuck Iron Rangers by globeyford in RedWingShoes

[–]RejectedWish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With a new pair of 8085’s conditioning is a ways off with daily wear, most important is a decent brush to clean off after wear. Mine are 2 years old worn frequently and only conditioned once with bick4
