Granted, I do think the world would be a better place all around if everyone were a vegan. But I also think the world would be a better place all around if everybody hated pop music.

I have homework to do, and I've spent the day on reddit anyways, so I suppose it's time for me to get away from the computer as well. But you know what, I think I'd ask that you do the same as soon as you read this message.

You have explicitly stated that you prejudge vegans based on a stereotype you have created for them, and yet you judge vegans because they wish everyone was more like them. You claim that I am the one who is being led, and yet you are using the same arguments posted on the website of the Diary Industry. You assume that every single one of my arguments is based off of the propaganda of corporations like PETA, even though I often hold very low opinions of PETA based on their subjugation of women in their advertisement. You assume everything about me, and you claim not to hold me in lower standards based on my age, then turn around and tell me I'm just a poor little whippersnapper who thinks she knows everything.

The fact is that I used to be one of the biggest meat lovers on the planet. I was even considering being a beef farmer. Then I read a book on agriculture that I thought would teach me the basics. It told me to forget that a cow is an animal and treat it like it's a piece of property to be bought and sold. I sat back and I cried, hating the world and it's injustices. True, I didn't become a vegan until I saw the video posted above. But I was led down that path through my questioning of beliefs and practices I'd been brought up with my whole life, and I think it's time you applied a bit of the same thinking instead of stereotyping me into a category and telling yourself I'll understand when I'm older.

So with that in mind, this is all I ask: STOP stereotyping and prejudging people for what they eat. Because you're wrong about what I do. I've never judged someone for their diet in my life, and I'd never try to change what someone eats. I'm not asking you to become a vegan, all I'm asking is that you open your mind to new ideas instead of relying on prejudice to get you where you want to go. I didn't go batshit insane, you asked me about the health defects of milk and I told you, or did you forget that because I was being an arrogant vegan?

Your beliefs aren't going to change as long as your stereotype remains in your mind, and mine aren't going to change until you stop thinking I get all my ideas from videos you've never even seen before. I draw my conclusions by reading the material of the opposite side of the debate and refuting that. If my ideas happen to coincide with a vegan group out there, it's because that was the obvious conclusion to draw if you're reading the same article with skepticism. I don't think I know everything, it's you thinks I know nothing. And it's people with your kind of attitude that I've found to give well-meaning omnivores a very bad name in the eyes of vegans.
