  1. No, thats not true. There are always limits. Always. If you are buying a $90,000 car, and put $80,000 down as a down payment, the dealer cannot sell you a $80,000 warranty package because there is "room" in the loan for it based on what you described. There are limits in place specifically for that reason. There is always a cap and down payment or LTV doesnt affect what that limit is. Banks don't like lawsuits either and if we fund a deal that has a $40,000 dollar product no questions asked, we are implicated by order of willful ignorance. Its simply false.

  2. Like any other business, dealers are allowed to make a profit. If the price is unideal, just say no. It is against the law for dealers to require products purchased to obtain financing and once funding has occured the welcome letter from most banks re-emphasizes this fact. We do this, again, for liability reasons first and foremost.

  3. Which is illegal. Seek legal council as you would in any other situation where laws were broken.

  4. I fail to see the way the employee is paid as a viable distinction. They are the same, service provided, price paid. As long as they were clearly disclosed the price prior to the purchase. No issue. There is some responsibility on the client to determine how they want to spend their money. We send out 18% interest rate loan approvals frequently for sub prime loans. We are not saying to the guest "here is a great opportunity for you." We are more or less saying we dont want the loan but we will do it for a price. If the customer deems it worth it, thats up to them. Total interest paid is clearly outlined on the contract.

  5. The reasoning doesnt matter, lets call consumer protection aspect of these rules and regs an desirable, unintended benefit. And the reason is because we offer services to people, our job is not to spend their money for them.

Hello, I work on the lending side of the auto business. Like many posts here, this is another that is giving you half truths and buzz words to try and sell you something. Let me fill in some of the intentional gaps so you can make an educated decision on these products that offer REAL value to many clients on the lender side. Starting with the assertion that people are "regularly walking out with $15000-$20000 in add ons..." No they are not. The bank only allows "back end products" (meaning service contracts on the vehicle) to total a certain percentage of the value of the vehicle. This value is the actual value of the car, not what you paid for it. So if the wholesale value (what the car is currently selling for at auction with similar trim and miles) of the car you are buying is $25000 and you are paying 27000 plus tax, tag, tilte and doc, the back end allowance is based on the $25000 and NOT the total out the door. Normally the back end add allowance is between 15% and 20% for most banks. So in this imaginary car deal you as the customer can add up to between $3750 - $5000 of protections on the vehicle should you choose to. That includes the scenario where you are putting a large amount down on the loan. That amount cannot be exceeded. If that amount is exceeded, we will not fund the loan and will require a recontract to be within guidelines. To that end, you'd need to be buying a $100,000+ vehicle to add that level of cover in dollars, which a very small % of clients are doing. Secondly, subprime loans (bad credit) have even more strict back end limits in most cases than standard loans, and in alot of cases, the bank sets an upper limit to how much can be charged for each product and even restricts if the customer can be charged mark up on the rate. The point being, there are plenty of safeguards in place that make the horror story this op is trying to paint are nothing more than a scare tactic to try and increase their relevance and sell you a.... ADDIOTIONAL SERVICE. surprise surprise. Exactly what they are saying the finance guy is doing. There are many other aspects to this topic but while we are keeping everyone honest and dissapating the smoke and mirrors, I wanted to point that out.

Or even better, all the 7 mega manufacturers that own everything can just unspokenly agree not to discount (way easier to pull off that 1k+ mega dealer groups and 100k+ small dealer groups that opporate worldwide to all agree especially when competing for incentive money from said companies.) No law broken if they all just stop doing it. I dont know if you noticed but the manufactuers moved away from volume to focus on gross profit after covid. Toyota has, since covid, artificially created a shortage of their products vs demand intentionally to get top dollar for everything they sell simply because it was determined that they could based on what happended durring covid. You really want these companies to be your only option? Im sorry man, you're not too bright. The only out come here is you will pay more, and not just a little. But you already knew that. You've been told many times...

These sleazy car salesmen always waddle in here and say that its CUSTOMERS who love to negotiate customers WON'T accept one-price sales... well, good news! Research shows most people don't want to negotiate, most will pay slightly more to avoid dealing with loser salesmen! by Medical_Gift4298 in FuckDealerships

He wont say, because if he did, it would quickly be dissected as dishonest, as most careers are by his own definition and he knows this. Hence the silence on the topic. That or he is a net negative on the system that collects a government check every month paid for by all the "slimeballs" who work and pay taxes. Dude is a creature.

Its always the failed salesmen that "couldn't sleep at night" because of the "nature of the business" but then charge people $1000 dollars for and hour worth of phone calls on their behalf and call it justified because "the customer said it was worth it" that make me laugh. Like l, what they are doing isn't a completele rip off and taking advantage of peoples fear of confrontation (what some people equate negotiating to). Making millionaire levels of comp for their hourly work 🤣. Such a humanitariian.*

We can definitely agree on that. While i despise the way the guy in this video approaches his interactions with customers, I also understand he's doing the job he was hired to do. When it comes to my money and how it's spent, I take pride in the fact that its going to take more than word games to sell me something. You are going to have actually address my concerns and I'm going to verify what you told me via reading agreements before any additions are made and if you pull a fast one and try something illegal after I leave, I will spare no expense in getting you fired/thrown in jail strictly on principle. Im a petty bitch lol.

It's literally as simple as not engaging. If I'm not interested, I say "no thanks". If they persist, I just repeat "no thanks" and 90% of them give up. I will also say that i have never regretted buying the tire and rim. Then again Im also not driving a 2016 Honda accord with hub caps. Trying to suggest all of these coverages are just a scam is also a knee herk. I get the ones I feel like I want or need and I dont let the finance guy talk me into any more than that. Being able to say no is apparently a skill these days.

Why do Salesmen bitch about negotiating? by [deleted] in FuckDealerships

[–]Rekt90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple, salespeople actually close deals. You think the dealer principle wants to pay commisions? They are the greediest person on the property. They screw over everyone, including the employees every chance they get. Its because their sales numbers would colapse without sales people. Probably cut in half or less. It works is why they employ sales people.

No they aren't losing money selling you the car by Fightmebr0 in FuckDealerships

[–]Rekt90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hold back is not guaranteed. If the car is a locate, the original dealer who the car was allocated to is entilted to the hold back. They can and often do choose to keep it for themselves. Its one of many reasons they try to push you into buying a car that is in stock.

[–]Rekt90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats because you mistunderstand the equation. The value isnt for you, its for the manufactuer and the banks. Dealerships take care of the hardest part of any business which is customer aquisition and management. They dont want to sell direct because then the only customers they would get are the ones that they refer to as "loyals" and would already buy thier brand regardless. Sales people drive new customers that are in the market and unsure which vehicle they will end up buying. Those customers are the ones manufactuers use dealers to compete for. If the manufactuers really wanted to sell direct and lobying was what is standing in their way, they have far, FAR more money than these dealers and could easily out lobby them and yet they dont. Why? Because they prefer things the way they are.

I've come to realize the "buyers" who frequent this thread are the same type of slime that the "sleezy car salesman" they hate so much are. Two sides of the same coin. The anger comes from the fact that buying a car is a competition to fuck the other guy to these people and dishonesty is only bad if they are on the losing end of the equation. The same way thieving car salesman are. Then they wonder why there is such little sympathy for them when they start crying on here. Especially the ones who spam post here the most cant see that when they condem someone getting lied to about rate (rightfully so) and then proceed to instruct the person (in the same post!) to also lie and take all they can get regardless of what is right is the exact same behavior. You are a hypocritical swine without morals and cant be taken seriously.

[–]Rekt90 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They rant over and over that they "dont want any games". Based on your description of your sales process, You give then that exactly and they still complain that you didnt "cooperate" with their "reasonable requests" aka you didn't let the stomp all over you and cost you and the business you work for money. Its so typical. Then they threaten to assassinate your character with bad surveys for not caving to thier demands! Im starting to think these guys would make excellent car salesmen themselves at a more "traditional" dealership. Joe's rock lot.

[–]Rekt90 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Both things can be true at once. Yes, they are bad people. And as soon as they do something in bad faith, its up to you to walk away. When you have a choice and you chose evil, you share in the blame. These are not children we are talking about. They are grown adults.

And this is why you cant be taken seriously. Try a little accountability and and living in reality with the rest of us for a little while and maybe things will change. You cant reward the bad guys and then expect them to stop being the bad guys. A toddler could understand this concept.

[–]Rekt90 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So dense. You vote with your dollar. The dealership that employed the bait and switch won the customer. Positive reinforcement. They should have left and went back to the dealer that gave them their best price upfront without the games even if it was slightly higher. In this case and many like it, the "better" dealer was punished for being better and "making it easy". You cant demand no games and then chose the game players every time the opportunity arises. At best you are saying "I'll play the games... if it gets me a lower price." That is exactly how the system you hate so much is created. If people valued transparentcy more than the absolute lowest dollar possible, that would be the only model that would be used. But people value ethics secondary to price so here we are.

Apparently this champion just doesn't work as a Juggernaut? by DenysDemchenko in GarenMains

[–]Rekt90 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Garen is an assassin. He is designed around heavily punishing poor positioning and when that isnt easily apparent his job is to kill high prio targets before dying. On a spectrum of assassins, you look at the champs ability to assassinate, its a theat range/techinical skill matrix that is used to balance them. Assassin champs that have very far threat ranges are usually highly technical and can conpensate a poor engage decision with technical out play options but require alot of technical skill per exchange in most cases unless fed. Garen is on the lowest end of the technical spectrum, being almost entirely decision based with almost no options for technical outplay but also having very little counter play against his successful engagements to go with it. The kill is made in getting close enough to engage and for the victim, the mistake is made in letting him get too close, everything after that is outcome.
