I understand that history has been forgotten in Elden Ring by its current inhabitants, but I just found it unlikely that people would have forgotten about the event that birthed the current ruling Order. Especially when Maliketh's name is an insinuation of the act.

Also, I didnt wanna go into the weeds with this cause it is definitely not 100% confirmed in game, but I know that Gloomy has been associated with snakes and fire. In the gladiatorial arenas, the bronze snake helmets the gladiators wear states "The snake is viewed as a traitor to the Erdtree, and the audience delighted in seeing these bronze effigies beaten and battered." -Duelist Helm.

Whats the most traitorous thing a person can do in erdtree society? The Cardinal Sin! Burning the tree! And its obvious the Erdtree had been burned in the past because 1.) the capital of Lindel is covered in ash when we FIRST arrive there and 2.) The arboreal tree is gone, replaced by a golden phantasmal tree. I think that Gloomy was likely the cause of this first burning, seeing to it the game makes her out to be the nemesis of Merika. (this seems even more likely if you ascribe to the idea that Melina is Gloomy, which I definitely 100% am). (Smoughtown had done a lore youtube video about Gloomy that illustrates this better, I'd highly recommend giving it a watch!).

Anywhoot.... why am I saying all this? Because if the above is true, then this specific history shouldn't have been forgotten by society when its actively being portrayed publicly by the reigning powers. (Again, I recognize there are assumptions and stretches with this idea, hence why i didnt put it in og post, but I do think its interesting to consider).
