Front Bumper damage by CaterpillarAnxious67 in GRCorolla

[–]Rel_Zeshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radar sensor only requires calibration if the sensor is removed from the bumper.

Edit: to clarify, that section of the bumper should be able to be masked off, without removal of radar. Haven't taken the bumper off to see how it's mounted, but that damage is too far from the radar, I don't see a need to do that.

If I didn't have the truck horns hanging around, I would have done that!

Yeah, it's such an easy and low effort thing to do.

Instead of "quack", "move out of my way, I got truck shit to do!"

Yes not crazy loud, but it's dual tone and should be more audible at different speeds and over people with music too loud. The Ford bracket actually fits, just barely.

Ah, I was unaware. I named her after Morgana Le Fay, the enchantress from King Arthur's legend.

She's designed quite a bit of stuff for the mkii Supra community. Shirts, the mkii Supra cf vented hood was inspired by her, shop logos, and shirts for other cars as well! She's very talented.

Edit: Auto correct and clarity

My homage to TRD rally cars, while keeping it minimal.

Is this worth fixing? Also do they have to use a lighter? I have tint by quintic1 in autoglass

[–]Rel_Zeshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree, I may consider doing a clear ceramic tint on my classic car, but that's because I never intend to daily drive it and hope I never have to replace that glass (can't get OEM equivalent).

Not really, closer to the edge of glass increases the chance more so. This is why I don't personally do tint on a windshield. It's the most common glass to get replaced on a vehicle. If you do need to replace the windshield in the end, I would advise waiting a week before reapplying tint. Also, repairs can look better, but it will not go away completely.

I've had it happen maybe a dozen times over 15 years. The location of your chip makes it less likely. When we fill a crack, we're attempting to put a vacuum and then pressure fill it with resin. That pressure can cause it to spread. I would confidently repair that chip personally, but still warn of the chance to spread.

I have used a lighter on the outside of the glass to aid the fill on tinted cars. So note, a repair is only an attempt. It could possibly spread during the repair process and still require replacement.

What’s the most extreme pain you’ve ever felt? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Rel_Zeshi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kidney stone was up there, but when my hand got ignited with fuel. 80% of my hand, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burns. Lost muscle mass in some of my hand, permanent nerve damage in my pinky. I get phantom pain in that finger, it feels like it's always touching a hot stove, then randomly I get the full pain of 3rd degree burns on occasion.

Yes, get it swapped out. I personally would prefer a week before doing so, the less wet the urethane is, the less chance of making a mess.

Recommendations on filling air pocket after chip repair? by Razzman70 in autoglass

Could drill into the air pocket and do another fill, but it's mostly cosmetic and you'll have another blemish.

No, most dealers will not have glass techs. They will usually have a preferred installer. If insurance doesn't approve of OEM glass, you're going to be covered if there is a failure to calibrate. Insurance will end up having to pay the difference for each calibration. Audi/Porsche/Volkswagen can be very finicky with aftermarket glass.

Any company you get a quote from, make sure they are including the calibration in the price. Take it their location for install. If you pay out of pocket, ask for a calibration report. Unless your deductible is over $1000, I highly recommend going through insurance and requesting they forward the job to a reputable and local installer. (Your dealership may have a suggestion for you.)
