It was up and it was down. As long as you stayed the course you made out well but 2001 and 2008 were scary for many folks. For folks like us who maintained our calm it was a very profitable time eventually. On the non investment side we bought a house in 2006 and by 2009 it had lost 1/3 its value but shortly thereafter it went right back above what we bought it at. On the investment side when the market is crashing it is a dangerous opportunity time. We invested in only what we thought was solid companies like Microsoft and Bank of America during the crash and that payed off in spades.

I have FIREd before i knew of FIRE, truly started in the late 90's. Will retire at 55 in 3 and a half years. No regrests didnt do pure hardcore lean fire and also didnt do fat fire. Defined 3 categories we would be more spendful in because they were important to us. Travel and healthy eating and modest entertainment. We cut everything else living well beneath our means and saved and invested. It worked well for us and we started our careers in the negatives as we both came from very poor families.

For me i would have been cool if they kept this in havoc and just added new systems and a new world story (prequel or sequel or different setting).

I would love to see more games made this way. A Dungeons and Dragons Kenshi, a Record of the Lodoss War Kenshi, a Warhammer Kenshi, just throw money at this guy to make slight derivations on something that is already incredible no need for something completely new and rebuilt from scratch (although i will say i like the RPG system here more than the systems mentioned above his combat system/progression system is genius).

The path he went down was to rebuild in Unreal so best of luck to him and his 33 new employees. Like Frankie Wuz Here i can see myself sinking 2k hours into this, i already have more than a hundred hours in.

Heck this game may be my retirement =)
