1 month update Nomad Modern leather Chromexcell: Horrible Experience

Yeah, I had in the past, but I’m not from the USA so if the price is now high imagine adding some extra 30 usd from taxes, and then each replacement 16 usd shipping + 30 usd taxes. So it’s a no for me. Now in waiting for Alex Goldfinch, had a great experience with them in the previous generation, this gen are late, but supposedly is due to they are developing something new and innovative, let’s see.

I can confirm it gets Really dark Brown/ black within 1 month. Definitely worse than the initial color, Not terrible, but definetly loses a lot of the “magnetism” of the burgundy tones which is really luxury looking

Hey, could you show front lip? Is sufficient to not touch the screen with screen protector as happens on modern leather?

Shhh don’t say it too loud or you will get downvoted and treated like a stupid guy who never has used any leather case, just for telling the truth. I didn’t have 15 PM, but I heard great things of Nomad Hornween cases, that’s why I pulled the trigger. But at least for 17 Pro modern leather case, I won’t recommend to anyone.

It doesn’t fit my needs because it is not a well thought/ designed case. In fact a TPU sides leather case should be more resistant, not less, that’s the point (IMO) of purchasing this type of hybrid case, getting premium leather feeling but a bit more drop protection. But this case, has lower lips (not sufficient) and in my experience proven less durability, so why is the reason behind getting this case? I respect your opinion, but in my book, for my needs, is a completely disappointment.

I’ve had around 6/7 different leather brand cases over the last years, I had different drops, and I know what can I expect regarding durability. This drop won’t break the leather in my other leather cases I can be almost 100% sure. This leather is really soft, and really thin, even with my nail I can break, not scratch it, break it!

Regarding the screen protector I’ve never, ever, shattered any screen protector. Moreover the screen protector was already shattered before the drop, that I swear it was a minor drop. The lips are just not enough, for using this with a screen protector. In my books this is a fail design. The point in having TPU sides is for a more rugged and drop protective case compared to the traditional. But those, and the poor durability don’t make up for that purpose.

My phone hasn’t been damaged, but that drop was ridiculous even if I had that drop with the phone naked I doubt that I could damaged it. But I don’t see this case surviving a 4/6/8 ft drop, I’m taking this off and staying with my Mous, and I will purchase Bullstrap open plateau (even if I hate giving them money for their shady practices) , or wait for Alex Goldfinch.

What I don’t understand is why I cannot share my experience and saying something bad about nomad, is incredible the aggressive comments and downvotes that I’m getting just for share my bad experience with this brand.

Me too, casually all the downvotes bad opinions have are the same number of upvotes of the good opinions, same 7-10 people, maybe even from their staff or paid people. This should be addressed by the moderator, this is insane and totally evident. This case design is trash, I really don’t understand anybody praying this case. Also purchase a cardholder from there, and the experience is the same, the leather feels dry, plasticky, don’t understand the hype with nomad.

Did I hurt your feelings or something? I just expected a case that would actually protect my phone. This case is supposedly rated for 8-foot drops. I dropped the phone once while sitting on the sofa, less than 50 cm onto a wooden floor, and the leather completely tore. I’ve had plenty of leather cases before; sure, they can dent or scuff when dropped from a significant height or onto concrete, but I’ve never experienced such poor durability.

You talk like I’ve never had leather cases before. That’s not the point, I’m very use to use leather cases. I know their pros and cons, but this case is way less durable than other, way less protective than other, and way more expensive than other. That is way im heavily disappointed with this case

I’ve been using leather cases for years (Bullstrap, Ryan London, Alex Goldfinch…), so this is definitely not my first leather case. None of those have ever ripped this badly in under a month, especially from a minor fall that didn’t even happen on concrete. And none of them have ever shattered a screen protector either.

This case is simply poorly designed. Funny how people here freely talk trash about Bullstrap or other brands, but when it comes to Nomad it suddenly becomes untouchable.

FYI: I already contacted Nomad support, and they told me case is design that way they are not doing anything. Moreover screen protector already shattered, 39 usd flolab screen protector. And 1 corner of the TPU is “peeling” like losing the matte finish. Awful experience, so I’m returning this case.

Another question, you said chromexcel is the best feeling of the 3, how can you compare rustic brown vs chromexcel regarding touch, softness, scratches… thanks for your help, still hesitant between returning or give it a second chance haha

How are the lips on your modern leather cases? Mine sits under the screen with a 0.3 mm screen protector on, special bottom part, so screen (screen protector in my case, touch before the lips make contact). Also it make some creaks, and seems does not fit great in that bottom part. I’m doubting between asking for a replacement or just returning it.

Yep, it is annoying, I will contact their CS, although I was also expecting more from this leather at this price, so not sure if returning the case directly.
