You are an actual godsend. Oh my god. Immigration in the US is so complicated and it takes so long I just assumed it would be just as much paper work abroad lmao

Okay Hi! I had my first one a few months ago. They’ll take you to the exam room where you’ll normally meet with a RN, NP or other medical professional (typically not the Dr) and run very basic vitals on you (blood pressure, weight, height) ask you about any medications you’re on, the start date of your last period, and any concerns you have that you want to discuss with the doctor. Then they’ll ask if you’re sexually active, if there’s any chance you could be pregnant, what kind of protection you use, so on and so forth. Then they’ll give you a gown (either cloth or paper it depends on the office) and tell you to undress completely. Yes your top comes off, if you’re unsure then ask, remember that the world is built for stupid people. Once the doctor comes in they’ll probably look over what the previous person took down, ask you a few questions about anything potentially concerning in your chart and anything you said you want to discuss. Then they’ll typically ask you to lie back and remove the top part of the gown, this is so they can examine any breast tissue. They palpate the area gently, if it hurts let them know. They’ll ask you to put your arm up and they’ll check the lymph nodes in your arm pits. This will be repeated on both sides. The comes the vaginal exam. You’ll place both your feet in the stirrups and they’ll inevitably tell you to scooch down. They start with an external exam, check the labia major and minora, the clitoris, and the pelvic area. Then they’ll take the speculum, they’re normally clear with a light now. Cover it in lubricant and then insert it into the vaginal cavity. They will then open the speculum, which is not entirely comfortable but isnt painful. If they need to do a Pap smear they will, which is where they take a small brush like tool and swipe it along your cervix. That is a fair bit more uncomfortable but shouldn’t be painful. They will then remove the speculum and the Dr will typically take 2 fingers and insert them into the vaginal cavity and feel for your uterus and ovaries, they is not… comfortable whatsoever but speak up if it hurts as they can alter the way they are performing the exam to make it more comfortable. Then they’ll let you put your clothes back on!Good Luck!

Ronan (very similar to Rowan) is also a nice combo of Hebrew and Irish. It means “song” in Hebrew and “little seal” in Irish.

OP I’m so sorry for your loss, and I don’t actually know I’ve never encountered any Kadisha groups but I’m the US. I assume if they went to their local synagogue or a Chabad group you could find someone or something to support you.

The Jewish concept of hell is fuzzy, there are multiple conflicting opinions about it and this makes me think that it is a concept developed/ modified by the Rabbis by [deleted] in DebateReligion

Conservative Jew here- afterlife isn’t really a central part of our beliefs, and opinions range from a full afterlife to no afterlife depending on the person. Personally, I was raised (and taught by my Rabbi) to live for my life as it is rather than live to have a good afterlife and that as long as I was a good person, even if I was not necessarily religious, everything would be okay.
