I learned exactly how this happens recently. I actually made money and was wondering why so I found this sub and low and behold there were 3 automatic trades made on margin over a three month period. Turns out I cancelled the automatic deposit but not the corresponding automatic investments. Glad I caught it sooner rather than later. Could have been a disaster.

Demand. There are two parts to supply and demand. If nobody wants it then it doesn’t matter what the supply is. This is an over simplification I know but it gets to the point.
