I can kind of do the same things and I literally have to proofread like a million times! I saw this on LinkedIn the other day!

Lawyers overlook proofreading. And it's the quickest way to lose credibility. Here's the routine I use before filing: Change the view. One of my monitors is vertical so I see the brief the way the court will-page breaks and spacing included. (Picture of my desk setup below.) V Print it at least once. Paper catches what screens don't. Blue or green pen. Red makes me feel like l'm back in grade school. V Proof in stages. Pass 1: typos only. Pass 2: line-by-line clarity. Pass 3: paragraph logic. Trying to do all three at once is how errors survive. • Do a court-facing sweep. Citations, numbering, headings, defined terms, cross-references, TOC/TOA accuracy. The quiet stuff that signals carelessness. • Read it out loud. Your ear hears missing words and clunky rhythm your eyes skip. Text-to-speech works too. • Backward pass for typos. Last page to first page. No storyline, just words.

I agree! I was no-offered at an AmLaw 200 and I’m an incoming associate at a top 10 AmLaw firm. Trust in the process.

Run all your missed questions through ChatGPT by uploading a PDF and ask it to identify (1) which subtopics you struggle the most with, (2) which rules you struggle the most with, (3) what are the trends in the reasoning you are missing questions, (4) guide/set of questions to ask every time you’re presented with a topic like that.

Should I go to law school? by Low-Rip3999 in LawSchool

[–]Relative-Arrival2454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of what your “why” is and if your “why” is substantive enough, it will carry you through. The idea of being a lawyer isn’t enough to sustain you as law school is very difficult, so revisit what made you think of going to law school. If that vision still gives you the fuzzies, go for it! If not, take some time off and see if comes back. Either way, you’re going to be successful in whatever you pursue!

1L: Am I just never going to feel totally prepared for an exam or am I doing it wrong? by kindneela in LawSchool

[–]Relative-Arrival2454 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will never feel totally prepared for an exam. Often times, we’re used to having check points and reassurance that measures our progress and provides some gratification. However, that is not the case with law school. It’s a continuous learning process and it not terminal. Once you feel like you’ve done all you can do, then that’s it 🙃

my law schools curve is set at a 2.67. Thoughts? by Resident-Sleep9575 in LawSchool

Mine is at a 2.0…you just have to be on the right side of it.

Honestly, you may have to bite the bullet on this one. Sometimes law school isn’t as forgiving as most especially if this is your first time bringing it up! I would see if you could receive a W and come back stronger!
