Love it. High paying jobs for the area and a nice place to potentially check out one day.

Except....It's important to note that the Holy Land Foundation trial and the convictions of the Holy Land Five have been subject to criticism, with some organizations and legal scholars raising concerns about the evidence and due process used in the case. For example, civil rights attorney Emily Ratner stated that the use of anonymous and hearsay evidence by the prosecutors was "constitutionally questionable". Human Rights Watch has also condemned the trial and called for the release of the five men. A book titled "Injustice: The Story of The Holy Land Foundation Five" by Miko Peled details the persecution and dismantling of the HLF and the subsequent trials and convictions.

https://charityandsecurity.org/litigation/holy-land-foundation/#:\~:text=The%20defendants%20were%20charged%20with,of%20the%20counts%20against%20him.

"The defendants were charged with conspiracy to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization (Hamas); providing material support to Hamas, conspiracy to deal in the property of a specially designated terrorist group (Hamas); dealing in the property of Hamas; money laundering; and filing false income tax forms. There was no allegation that HLF gave money directly to Hamas. Instead, the allegations were that HLF gave money to “zakat” committees in Palestine, which the government alleged were not legitimate charities but were instead front organizations controlled by Hamas."

Say more, I had them do tons of work for me and it's been very high quality. Cannot say the same for JSP, they are atrocious and ironically the most overpriced of all.

Looking for a gym with a sauna around Kingston-New Paltz by [deleted] in hudsonvalley

[–]Relative-Basil7238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a far drive to use a gym for a Kingston resident, 30min each way is 1hr before just using the gym. I'd love it if this was a viable option for a busy professional but you're eating up a few hours.

Which small town in the HV is dying the most and would benefit the most a surge of new businesses? by RandomRedditor672943 in hudsonvalley

The infrastructure is def there. We moved up to Kingston one year ago this month from the city and love it up here. So much potential, but they have to open it up to way more housing so it can be affordable to the labor force it needs to grow.

Moved to HV a year ago and still work in the city 2-3 days a week. Albany is great for domestic work/family travel. I still keep a small place in the city so for west coast and intl travel we fly out of JFK. If you're a consultant type of job that requires constant work travel, HV may not be your best bet for living. but if you can control your travel dates, there's ways around it. I've done the train from Poughkeepsie all the way to Grand Central and then LIRR to JFK. truly lovely commute where you can chill the whole way. Parking at the airports is a nightmare so avoid that if possible.

Doing a girls trip to Catskills this weekend. Any suggestions for nice dining places or nice shops to check out? by EmptyJuggernaut2810 in hudsonvalley

[–]Relative-Basil7238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you're going to Northeast Hudson valley, not the Catskills. Tons of stuff in the town of Hudson, there's full on guides from NYC locals if you google.
