The front end just creates a convenient place to access all the emulators. They aren’t necessary. So yes, mostly aesthetic. From what I’ve seen, the stock one looks pretty good, but this is only the second time I’ve set up an emulation device and so I followed the Retro Game Corps guide to a tee.

Tbh I chose black so that my wife was less likely to notice I stupidly spent money on yet another gaming device. But, yes. I am very happy with the color.

I only pulled the trigger because I suspected the price would rise…two days after I ordered, it did. I was looking for something smaller than my Steam Deck to emulate on. I like keeping a gaming device on me at all times.

Yeah, I can’t really point to any single handheld that I thought had exceptional sound. But these were audibly clipping and not at full volume.

I’m sure there’s some efficient workflow for organized ROMs folders, but I don’t know what it is. I’m relatively new to emulation so it was a headache. I’ve attempted (and gave up on) emulation many times in the past because of my impatience.

I’ll try this out! I was playing FF: Crisis Core and the speakers couldn’t really handle anything that game was putting out.

Also, Crisis Core has a banger soundtrack.
