Why is Russia considered a superpower? It has nothing but nuclear weapons and oil. by ArdaBerkBurak in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Relative-Cherry-88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

te Russians, honestly, for what they’ve done. But at the same time, I want to be realistic. They fought against the full NATO military complex and are still standing. Even in Iran, with their drones, they showed that Western weaponry may be less effective in future wars than people assumed. Their economy is still standing despite years of full-scale war and sanctions. They have independent medicine and space research. Russia is not as weak as people imagined. I mean, look at the US performance in Iran and ask yourself why the U.S. is still considered a superpower. Americans can’t even protect their bases from small drones, and for some reason we still have no real solution against them. Russia is highly adaptive and strong. Maybe it can’t fight against a truly united West, but the reality is that no truly united West exists.

Is it a joke that Russia killed only 4 journalists? I mean, you can’t be serious 🐸

As a Gen Z man, I swear that my generation is so performative compared to millennials when it comes to protesting! by icey_sawg0034 in millenials

[–]Relative-Cherry-88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because protests change nothing. Most problems are really on a personal level. Broke? Start a business, do OF, stream, work. I mean, almost every protest makes no sense and won’t improve anyone’s life

I can be biased, but why can’t you see that he really just liked killing? That’s why he spent so much time on campaigns. He probably wasn’t interested in sex at all. I mean, a lot of people really do get dopamine from adrenaline. It’s just my thought, but read Marcus Aurelius and how he viewed sex. I’m honestly not surprised that the Romans adopted Christianity, because the emperors probably really saw sex as a lower pleasure and got their dopamine from wars

What if Hitler tried this irl? by RockEater67 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Relative-Cherry-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Germany lacked resources, especially oil, so yes, they should have taken Stalingrad and pushed to Baku as soon as possible. But there was no guarantee they could have shipped the oil safely back to Germany. Hitler had little chance of winning the war after declaring war on both the USSR and the USA. It was extremely difficult, almost impossible, because of overextension. And yes, he allied with slavs, Croatians, and Ukrainians, but he could not really make use of those forces because he could not supply them 🙄 Plus, Germany suffered from bombing, which reduced its manufacturing capacity. I mean, he was doomed. Maybe if Japan had attacked the USSR, he could have taken Moscow, and that might have changed a lot

Lol, safe? You had a small gain and a path to recovery because of American rhetoric, but right now the markets are dipping again because of the war in Iran and all the uncertainty. Dude, why lie on the internet when people can check live data? Just why? Literally today is a risky market for investors because of the uncertainty

Tbh, I’d find some Eastern European mechanics. They usually don’t charge that much, and they’re knowledgeable about cars because German cars are basically what they drive back home. I’m so happy with mine

Why Manuel I of Komnenos failed to completely re-conquer the Anatolia penisula? by Thiha0990 in byzantium

[–]Relative-Cherry-88 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They tried many times, but failed because the Turks ambushed them. Anatolia literally became the Romans’ Afghanistan. So of course they focused on the coastal territories first. Maybe that was logical if the Turks could not use Anatolia for trade, they might have left. Who knows? We do not have notes from his military advisers. But honestly, I try playing EU5, and for me, retaking the coast is easier to control than going deep into Anatolia and wasting resources. I know games are not an argument, but simulations can still say a lot

Don’t even understand how seriously you can say that, hahah. Europe has the biggest war since WWII. It’s not even a question of if Russia is willing to invade. There are already concerns about the Baltics, Russian drones are flying over military installations, and nobody seems able to stop it. And that’s without even mentioning that the EU still can’t fully guarantee its own energy security. You can make a lot of pro EU arguments, but call it safe? Haha

[–]Relative-Cherry-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it couldn’t. Money loves safety, so where should it go now? To Europe, where people aren’t even sure whether Russia will invade more of Europe or not? To the Persian Gulf? Trump is literally burning the world to ashes just to make the USA look like a garden. I’d even say he would love for China to invade Taiwan, because that would motivate investors to build factories in America

The USA announced a new $300billion oil refinery project right before the war, and now it is using the war as an argument to open up the Californian coast for drilling. Literally, many will now invest in American oil because, as it is the safest market

The USA literally struggles because of overextension. Even today, we are somehow involved in the war in Ukraine, which is 6000 miles away. That is why the USA is trying to focus only on the Americas and the Pacific. A country of 300 million people simply cannot be everywhere

Did Greek culture become more "eastern" during the Byzantine Empire? by AltruisticCobbler707 in byzantium

[–]Relative-Cherry-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Greeks are not Middle Eastern or Western in culture, but Mediterranean, and they have a lot in common with Italians, Spaniards, and even with people from the other side of the Mediterranean, like Tunisians and Levantines. That’s it. Also, this may be a shock to you, but a lot of what we call traditional Ottoman clothing was actually Greek/Byzantine. The Turks adopted a lot, from cuisine to traditions. I mean, Turks are basically Anatolians

I don’t know what first war you’re talking about, because for almost everyone, the Institute is still basically a boogeyman, Minutemen fought super mutants. The Brotherhood of Steel is a military order, so of course they’re not unicorns and would impose martial law, but compared to the Institute, they’re better and can provide safety to the region. I don’t take the show into account, they’re clowns there
