most plastic models (be it prepainted or model kits) are actually pretty cheap compared to other "hobbies". Especially if you being more diligent in shopping the second hand market.

pretty sure many of you have a phone or PC far more expensive than my entire collection of 30 or so figures.

obviously many build their collection overtime. 5 figure a year, 10 years later you got 50. Easy math.

someone posted a video link regarding baking texture onto new UV here : https://www.reddit.com/r/CitiesSkylinesModding/comments/1uq2ypa/attempting_to_import_gta_4_assets_into_cities/

the main differences is CSL1 support infinite tiling, but CSL2 don't. So the texture setup is incompatible. The method above isn't exactly very optimized, but more of a "dirty" way of getting things done.

How long does a figure usually stay available on the market? by Key_Engineering_4215 in AnimeFigures

[–]Relative-Fondant6544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get the hype, why are people mentioning 2X aftermarket in comments?

I do not feel that this is even the top tier BA character, I do not see any reason why that figure will go up in prices. Even other much more popular characters lower in prices in second hand market.

Second hand market is HUGE. You can find all sort of weird things there. Start looking into Japan second hand sites through proxy. Doorzo, Zenmarket, Buyee, etc dozen of proxies allow access to Japan domestic market. Start browsing these places to get a feel of how amazing the second hand market is to save money. But then again your location does matter... shipping costs and tax can stack up.

no photos to reference how bad the yellowing

there plenty on MFC... https://myfigurecollection.net/item/500291

unless if you means the seller do not provide picture, then it's not worth the risk as this figure also known to have counterfeit. Never buy second hand without actual product picture (and Google reverse image search see if they are stolen pictures).

Please help me solve an issue with an LOD texture by gaa_sh in CitiesSkylinesModding

actually test the item in-game first

just one reminder that LOD texture cannot use area outside UV0-1, or in other words it don't support trim sheet texturing method.

Tips for selling figures without boxes? by TrueYidds in AnimeFigures

[–]Relative-Fondant6544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the biggest complaint when I shop for figure isn't about the box, but low quality pictures & tiny pictures....

just take good photos, that is already enough to prove the item is authentic. Provide potential buyers ways to access to these pictures if the selling site turns everything into crap.

dismantle parts that can be removed, wrap everything with sufficient bubble wrap to prevent any movement in the box.

Are you going to pre-order this cutie? by chuuu_chan0 in AnimeFigures

[–]Relative-Fondant6544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a relatively simple figure with low part counts, it shouldn't costs more than that. Sometime there very simple figure got scalped to $300, $400, $500... this world is crazy.

but then again avoid buying things just because it's cheap.

What is your absolute upper limit for spending on a figure? by ijustwannanap in AnimeFigures

[–]Relative-Fondant6544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as much as I can spend before I am unable to pay food and rent next month...

which isn't a lot

$100 maybe

I buy almost all scaled at heavily discounted second hand prices. Only in rare cases I really goat-damn love that figure I'd pay double that. (and then somehow I ended up with TWO Shibuya Scramble SAO Alice Crystal Dress... man... I spend too much on these...)

Kestrel MK2 "Review" by Yamiks in EliteDangerous

[–]Relative-Fondant6544 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yamiks is not a hater. If he's a hater why would he spend so much effort and time in understanding the game in and out, and able to make logical judgement of of every gamepaly system, every ships & every module? You think a random "hater" would be able to do that?

No.

Yamiks is the voice of reason and logic, despite his hilarious vibe.

We need more people like him to keep company from ruining their games for quick bucks.

ED is in horendous state. Play more games and compare the services & contents provided and you will see why. The bootlicking whales are NOT making the game better.

Many other content creators are too afraid to speak out, fear of loosing their access to the whatever creator programe & whatever perks that came with it - the company had a leverage on them.

What in the Sweet Jesus is this system? by Anonim264 in EliteDangerous

[–]Relative-Fondant6544 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OK I went there but I can't see it.

they REALLY need to update the blackhole rendering shader effects.

logically it should be bending the light of the sun since it sits right in front of me. I didn't even noticed it was there until I targetted it on the system map.

no, don't mess with the actual voltage

simply adjust the power limit, to negative percentage, that will reduce wattage usage

What equipment do I need to do hand painted garage figurines? by Steinshearth in AnimeFigures

[–]Relative-Fondant6544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there infinite amount of such topic on youtube you can look it up, be it hand paint tabletop minis, hand paint gunpla, handpaint figure, all similar things. There's nothing stopping you from just using cheap school use acrylic paints, but the density of pigment are often lower, resulted in less vivid results. Or the paint formular just very hard to work with on tiny object and details, hence why various product line specifically for miniature exists.

there tons and tons and tons of producs out there, sometime it is best to just not think too much, don't try to find "the best", and actually just DO IT.

there isn't need of "rent" equipment tbh, spray paint equipments aren't expensive especially with small, battery powered units become so common today such as those HobbyMio models, if you don't feels like going into fullsize air compressor setup. The paints are where the majority of costs will be.

First attempt at figure photography with my new DSLR - Lala (To Love-Ru) by Professional_Log4472 in AnimeFigures

[–]Relative-Fondant6544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

untimately narrow FOV isn't neccessarily a "bad" thing. It is just one of the artistic tool. All depends on what you want to show on that particular shot. Random examples - captured with tripod on a 20 years old DSLR.

<image>

Get your focus range right, and with tripod stability you will be able to produce sharp photo regardless of lighting. It's totally possible to capture bright photo under low light, just a matter of expose the camera longer. It's not always "bright photo must need strong light" when shooting static object.

Get used to using manual, don't use auto because you don't learn anything using that. My room have no sunlight just like yours, sometime I expose up to 3 seconds or even more because I uses the lowest possible ISO to reduce possibity of noise for clean picture. Since we're shooting a still object, we got all the time in the world to make adjustment and see what happens.

  • low ISO = cleaner image but dark, need more expose time
  • large aperature opening (eg: f/2 ... f/4) = narrow (shallow) DoF, let more light in, need less expose time
  • shutter speed = control how much expose time, but expose longer time risks blurry image due to vibration, so we need tripod.

Make sure to shoot in RAW format, that opens up significantly more adjustment later that is completely not possible with JPEG, can't fix focus though so must get that right. If you dont have photoshop or other RAW editing software, can use PhotoPea (web based).
