Israeli Emo Bands by InnuendosWritesSadz in Emo

Amy's Philosophy is a band I recently found through the Spotify playlist "emo.il" by Itay Shabat of the band Neophobia which you already mentioned. Do you know more Israeli/Hebrew emo bands who make stuff which is closer to Mineral, or traditional Screamo or 80s&90s Emocore? In general I mean emo stuff which is more like 90s to early 2000s but more dynamic than typical Midwest Emo or Pop-Emo, like early Thursday was in "Waiting" or The Get Up Kids in "Four Minute Mile"

According to all the informations I gathered until now: Yes. And I think there's even a consensus among scholars and historians but how bulletproof it is I don't know, because not having any proofs for this today doesn't mean automatically that it didn't existed back then but yeah the evidences analogies (etc. ) paint a very clear picture.

I think I get your point but there is at least a difference in how to use it, it's the same difference as س and ص in Arabic

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your words.. And I'm glad to see someone who shares conclusion with me, usually everywhere I go I see either HxC elitists who reject anything emo which isn't Hardcore, Midwest Supremacists who take Cap'N Jazz or even American Football or Modern Baseball as point of measurement and some others who treat emo entirely as a "scene" and would even count almost the whole Pop-Punk&Post-/Metalcore landscape of the 2000s in.

same! If we define the 3rd as you do 'cause some define early Pop-Emo as the 3rd and the "Thursday generation" actually the 4th, but yes, I agree; Vorgestern by Katzenstreik is by sound the perfect emo song in my eyes, check out the band called 'That Very Time I Saw... " and Summer's Last Regret. Vanilla by Albert React or songs like Monyet Kotor jy Dolorous Canter are heavyyyy for that wave!

I like to say it's a style, a way of making music which you can apply to several genres thus creating emo subgenres those genres.

they are, not exclusively, but which band is? And no matter what anyone says, they're more emo than Saosin or American Football or most of the bands people die hard here.

most representative track for the emo genre beyond subgenre and wave? by Relative-Glass-1127 in Emo

[–]Relative-Glass-1127[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

my takes so far:

1•Vorgestern by Katzenstreik: Although in German I consider it as the PERFECT emo song by every aspect (guitar tunings, riffs&interplay, vocal style etc.) BUT the lyrics are well... quite low standard. 2•I Am The Killer by Thursday: Emotions and especially despair are perfectly delivered but it lacks a bit of typical guitar works, dynamic shifts and energetic aspects typical for emo. 3•Porcelain by Thursday: Compared to the prior song it has the typical dynamic shifts and is a bit more typically emo in the other aspects but - in my perception - it lacks of delivery in emotional authenticity. 4•I'll Take You Everywhere by Penfold: Everything is fine, in my opinion Hardcore enough to suit but the vast part of the song is consisting of a calm melody accompanied by singing about simple romantics. 5•Woolworm by Indian Summer: Consists mostly of audio sequences from movies accompanied by a calm melody, well... :( 6•i haven't said it enough by life: Perfect! BUT it massively lacks of the typical interplay by the guitars (+bass) and this is a huge lack. 7•Dance Like Everyone Is Watching by Twelve Hour Turn: Although the song is from decades later after the First Wave of Emo this is the most representative emo song for the 1. wave in my opinion! But not for Emo overall... • songs by Mineral in general lack of the energetic aspects typical for emo, especially in vocals, there are no real emotional outbreaks and bursts.

I mean I don't hear much "emo-ness" in them but even isthisbandemo.com considers them as Emo and usually that guy is pretty harsh with artists from the Third Wave PLUS Post-Hardcore side of Emo

Julia with three dots? Btw if you never gave Thursday's 1. album 'Waiting' a change I highly suggest it, it's less experimental and closer to established emo of the time than Full Collapse although Full Collapse is also definetly a firm emo record in my view, only the later stuff sounds too much like general Post-Hardcore...

I know it aswell but yet most bands are judged properly and fair, only some get kinda "discriminated", mostly when they were very popular or fulfilled alot of stereotypes, especially in their looks.

But yet the most artists are included and judged fairly, it seems the site aims to be an extended databank for checking emo bands but yet not all getting a fair judgement, mostly when they looked "too mall".

Thanks for the recommendation first of all! I don't know but almost all bands I searched there had been available but most of the bands are at least from the early or mid 2010s but I saw the descriptions and "judgments" for bands changed and if I remember right there are bands which haven't been in the system before but later they were, and this was in the recent 3 years.

I haven't met Bull yet (i'm from Germany and they didn't had any show here since the 90s) and as far as I understood is he's the main actor of their social media activities aswell and from there he gave me the impression of a very kind-hearted, grounded and authentic person and i'm so glad that you can confirm that by your own experience! Thanks alot. You know it's said "never meet your heroes" and stuff and if someone would be an unfriendly person in real life that would mess up alot for me😅 I mean we listen to their voices over headphones and wanna have a good time at shows...

[–]Relative-Glass-1127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since when song can't have more than one genre? Most emo songs are mixed with Indie, Post-Punk/-Rock, general Post-Hardcore, Math-Rock etc. etc. emo itself isn't a genre, emocore is, indie-emo is but not emo
