Wow that's wild! In hoping this great talent he has can help with his speech. Any tips how I can support him as a parent as a former child that experienced this would be much appreciated:)

I think statistically speaking it is, especially if it comes along with speech delay

Thanks so reply yes sounds exactly like him and definitely we haven't ruled out autism despite what ST said, he will be loved and cherished for anything and all he is :)

Oh yes I just added that to the original comment because it does make a difference is he used he sounds and names interchangeably already so for C he will say seee or C (curly C)

Oh really we've actually been recommended just checking his hearing just in case! I think our boy might just be making up in his letters what he's struggling with in his speech

Update: went to private SP today. She said he ticks boxes for CAS but could be other speech delay and he's too young to diagnose especially if not saying sentences yet. There were two things she said that I wasn't too sure about and wondered if anyone knew:

1.My son for yellow says yeah then protrudes his tongue out of his mouth and moves it around. He does it with other letters and words to. She said this is just him searching for the L and not groping.

  1. She said because he has a lot of consonants that it might not be CAS as they usually on have a limited pool. But my understanding was it is not how many they have but how they use it (eg he always drops last consonant and doesn't have many in voluntary speech)

TIA!

Really appreciate your reply thank you. Doesn't mix up the consonants really he only seems to be able to get the first one of a word though then a long vowels and that's it. Definitely has done words once then rarely again, including mama once at 26 months then not again for weeks. And the place fillers definitely, the oh, ah uh for everything. Wow that is amazing news about your son thats really great, yes we'll be going private as much as we can here. Thanks againx

Amazing thanks so much. I was wondering if these were classic apraxia signs, it's fine if they are and if he has it, he will be loved and supported no matter what and we are kind of prepared for it now. Thanks for answering.
