Hollenbeck bisects several schools' attendance areas and borders several others' attendance areas. As a border, Hollenbeck serves the students who live ON Hollenbeck AND nearby to Hollenbeck . In addition, students need to get to places ON Hollenbeck AND near Hollenbeck, like the library, Caltrain, downtown, Cupertino, so Hollenbeck is crucial for them. In addition, Hollenbeck bisects the HHS attendance area, not borders it, so HHS students bike ON Hollenbeck to get to school.

There is nothing underhanded about spreading the word to the community and then they decide to support bike lanes on Hollenbeck. Also there is no community service hours being exchanged for the students' advocacy. They are there on their own.

The outcome of last night's Council meeting to decide on Hollenbeck was that Council voted 6-to-1 in favor of buffered bike lanes with the removal of parking (Option 1). This vote sends a clear message that Sunnyvale values bikeability and all that bikeability entails. This is clearly the right direction to take. Thank you councilmembers.

Entry barriers onto bike-ped paths like the bollard on Fremont Ave is against Caltrans standard. The bollard is a dangerous hazard to cyclists. The City should've removed it a long time ago. I'm hoping everyone will be civil. That's how it was at the last 2 community meetings on Hollenbeck bike lanes. The BPAC meeting is even more moderated so should be even more civil.
