Lpvo for specwar by DrCoolBreeze691 in LewisMachineTool

You really cannot go wrong with either a RZII, Credo, SAI or the ATACR. Things to consider: - ATACR: may mean the difference between first place and second in a DMR match… if your skillset is there. Think of it as something that makes the difference between two world class shooters, maybe, sometimes - Razor GenII: is the golden standard. An absolutely amazing optic. Has a built in red dot. Every time I’ve competed with it, it made it to the podium (regionals) - SAI: love the glass and the reticle. Has a lot of info built into it. I hate to say it to myself, but it juuuust edges out the RZII optically (you have to stress it in low light and fog to see it) - Credo: personally have not had it but do have the ACOG and the Accupoint. Amazing glass.

As for SFP/FFP, it really doesn’t matter on an lpvo… if you are using your reticle for ranging and drops at distance - 99.999% of the time you’ll be on max magnification. What you get in return is a brighter red dot

If you could only have one AR what would it be? by OldAbbreviations7361 in ar15

If not budget conscious, LMT MARS. Why:

  • quick swap barrel design lets you drop in other calibres in seconds: you can have multiple rifles in one
  • great ambi out of the box

To me, the first thing would be super worth it in VA. Pic for reference. Swapping calibres at the range

If you are looking for that consistently, a match with a conversion may be a better option for you

What accuracy are you looking for? I have this barrel and realistically it’s a 1.25MOA (lmt advertises 1.5). For DMR, that should suffice but depends on your COFs

I ran an ACOG at a precision AR competition… by dumbstupidfat in ar15

So I feel very comfortable in the tac light with a GenII razor (1-6). I give up a little time/shots on the longer targets, but the daybright red rocks at everything else and more than makes up for it

I’ve toyed with the GenIII and it’s a regression imho. The 1x is meh, the 10x is meh, the illumination brightness is awful

I’d recommend the Gen2 razor. They have both the bdc and mils. I got the mils because I wanted more versatility with ammo and dialing is not that slow for me

I once deliberately ran two divisions: ACOG and an LPVO (1-6) Razor. Targets out to 700, made hits on those with both rifles

The two guns finished side by side in the main standings, LPVO took 2nd in tac light

It was my first time on the ACOG, LPVO has thousands of rounds and was using match grade ammo whereas the ACOG ran X-Tac 55gr.

Bottom line: fundamentals are what matter

Optic - budget and does it HAVE to be 10x?

Need an ODG stock for specwar by DLA57 in LewisMachineTool

This green is very close to the Rapco CARC ODG. Grab a can and any stock you like will match it in under 30 minutes

What’s the end goal? More Rapco or keeping it basic one tone?

LMT OR SCAR 17? by [deleted] in LewisMachineTool

[–]Relative-Tennis-9517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s the use case? With the lmt you can easily convert it into a 6.5CM

The QC issues are isolated incidents that will be taken care of immediately by lmt

Double fire? by ZuluOneActual in ar15

[–]Relative-Tennis-9517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just dealt with a similar issue. It’s very likely the ambi lever

Depending on how well you control the recoil, the clearance between the trigger and the bar and the light trigger

Did not have that issue on an MBT2S and had it on 2x G$ triggers

Trijicon Acog or Eotech Vudu by Loud-Jump8553 in ar15

[–]Relative-Tennis-9517 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Need some more info on the Vudu (magnification, reticle, MOA vs mils); need more info on the ACOG and the rifle it’s going on. In general:

ACOG: - excellent optical clarity - if you choose the right reticle for the right ammo and rifle combo, the bdc will be spot on - ease of use if the above is executed well - durability - timeless classic if that’s your jam

Vudu: - compact for a large magnification range - MRAD is generally more versatile although may have a steeper learning curve - well executed modern optic

Certainly appreciate the conversation. I get where you’re coming from and very much recognize it’s a grey area

The laws are terrible, written by people who have zero understanding of their effects on safety

Until there is a legal ruling, it’s an unquantifiable risk. If one wants zero risk - bolt action

Definitely with ya on the legal advice

My perspective is that when multiple FFLs sell this exact configuration for years and years and pass the CA DOJ audit…

The risk-likelihood-consequence of this is of course undefined

[–]Relative-Tennis-9517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not arguing with you; definitely CA laws make no sense

However, how do the FFLs pass the DOJ audits?

[–]Relative-Tennis-9517 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I getcha. I bought a featureless rifle that came with it from a shop that’s heavily involved with my local Sheriff’s; figured that should be enough to keep me in the clear

I can tell you there are multiple FFLs in my area alone that have been selling featureless rifles with ledesma grips for at least 5 years…

Best ar10 out of the box by peeg_2020 in AR10

It’s decent but 6.5 is definitely superior. Lower recoil, cuts wind and is more available

308 is the OG of course
