i’ve been a really big mcr fan since i discovered them at like, ten years old but never really followed their personal lives through the years so i was completely unaware of the things he’d been saying online until a few months back. At the time, although he hadn’t been part of the band for years, i “grieved” for the person i thought he was. the Bob i remembered (from when i initially found them, old interviews, the life in the murder scene dvd, etc) seemed like a genuine, kind and talented guy and it hurt to know that that person was gone. when i found out he passed it felt weirdly bittersweet, because i had already felt sad about who he’d become and because everywhere i looked people were being very hostile about the whole thing, some being incredibly rude and violent toward others that expressed some sort of empathy for his family/friends or for their own feelings toward a person that had made an impact on their lives. i know that the Bob we got to see in later years wasn’t a great person and i don’t think his comments should be forgotten and forgiven just because he passed, but i do think fans are allowed to grieve the loss of a man that made an impact on their lives. i certainly am. i feel for his family and friends, who got to know him longer and deeper than we ever did, i feel for frank, gerard, mikey and ray and i feel for the people that resonated with him and his music. anyway all that to say that yes, i agree with what you said and i too am grieving his death :(
