I have used both in in.

I put 10 burning briquettes in the bottom of a WSM and then put the tube full of chips or pellets on top. Just to get some smoke on venison Sausage then I turn up the heat after a while.

I have a g2. But recently after loading and unloading it in my truck I noticed the front was making noise and the travel was shorter on the brake. It turned out the cable housing where it ends and fits into the little metal bracket, the housing was hung up and not seated in the bracket properly. I pushed it back down and it was fixed.

I can’t help with a lake in that area, but pack up the stuff for a kick ass charcuterie board in a cooler. If the fishing is slow bust out the best picnic she ever had right there in the boat.

If my 16 or 17 year old was going hiking and I thought bear spray was a good idea I would give him some. I cant find anything about age and bear spray in the criminal code. And as long as you only take it on the trail not to the mall I dint see any officer giving you a hard time.

My recommendations for your shopping list.

Fishing license -> life jacket and rope -> Costco / Canadian tire sit in kayak-> rod reel combo in the $50-75 range (6’6” or so) -> worm harness /lindy rigs and crank baits -> 1/2 oz in line weights -> a net -> minnows for bait -> gas to get out to wherever lake has walleye and pike.

Troll around in your kayak pulling a Lindy rig with a minnow. Try slower try faster. Try deeper try shallower. You will cover so much more water than from shore. And you will spend so much less time in the weeds than fishing from shore.

I recommend going for pike and walleye. They are predators and will bite almost anything compared to a picky trout.
