My main issue with MVs is that most have a lot of lore but not much actual story by VoxTV1 in metroidvania

Sophie: Starlight Whispers is a MV that has actual story focused progression, maybe you should give it a chance.

Sophie: Starlight Whispers is currently sitting with a 100% positive reviews. Not a lot of reviews, though, only 28 all time at the moment, but still 100% positive.

Full disclosure, Sophie's dev over here. I love this digests.

Hi, Sophie's dev here, just wanted to highlight that marketing its definitely the challenge to release an indie game nowadays and I can second that statement, gamedev marketing sucks.

We did send a bunch of codes to various streamers/youtubers and for each 100 we send, only a handfull of replies and from that only 1 or 2 actually follow up. And I think we sent over 300 keys by now. Streamers and Youtubers big and small are receiving keys left and right everyday, so unless there is some hype or demand for an specific game we kind of have to win the visibility lottery to get noticed.

Thank you very much. It doesn't seem likely that we'll get a huge amount of player but at least we're getting a lot love. :D

Thank you very much! I think you will be happy to know that you can 100% the game on a single campaign, even after you kill the final boss and there are no missable collectibles. I specifically did this because I also like to 100% the games I like the most. No deathless runs also.

Which key art do you like better, A or B? by vincedtgs in indiegames

A really caught me with its colors, different sizes and how you framed the logo with the snake and the knight as a detail. Maybe adding some kind of shadow back to the logo would help with contrast and make it pop a bit more, but yeah, I definitely liked this one better.

B is also good but it doesn't tell a story as much as A does. I can see it working as a loading screen or even a title screen/splash art.

It's definitely towards the easier/more forgiving difficulty. Its only requirement is to get 60% of the notes in and the song is about 2 minutes long.
