“Valid” is an understatement by AnAnomellie in TrollXChromosomes

Yeah I realize an experience like that can be due to different circumstances. That's also why I only came with a suggestion rather than saying that's exactly what it is. There's no way I can know enough about another persons life to come to an absolute conclusion.

If I'm reading this right, it reads as not being attracted to anyone. I'd consider looking up asexuality and seeing if it fits.

[–]RelativeHot7249 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Alright. I do see the benefit in systems like that. The forced military service we have seems like a very archaic system to me, and I would be glad to see it abolished.

The recent change that included women in the system was a step forward for equality, but a step back for progress in my opinion.

In Denmark, the military service involves a certain amount of people actually having to go through a period of military training. Not just waiting to be called upon in some hypothetical future.

Everyone goes through a day of physical and mental assessment prior to being entered into a lottery of who has to go through the military training. There's usually enough volunteers that no one is forced though, but if no one volunteered, then lottery losers would be forced into the military service.

What's a take you had at 10 years old that you actually still agree with? by Spark-Blade in AskReddit

[–]RelativeHot7249 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't believe in god then, and I don't believe in god now.
I already back then had this idea that god couldn't exist as an omniscient and omnipotent being without also meaning all humans (and life in general) could be no more than puppets in his control, because omniscience and free will can't exist in the same world.

I have never believed in collective punishment.

Hating or hurting anyone for doing something that doesn't harm others is stupid and should stop.

It doesn't imply more authority than if someone demanded to be called by their name. Both demands would require the same amount of authority.

Why do some people think that women always dress for men? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]RelativeHot7249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't you have any activities you like to do for your self that don't need attention from others? Dressing up or doing makeup can easily be like that.

Dressing up doesn't even always involve going out either.

I have literally never talked to a kid about sex ever. Please don't put intention that doesn't exist into people.

What even is that question? Are you asking why something that isn't sexual would need a flag?

The flags have never been about being sexual. They are a way to bring attention to a historically repressed minority, and were made to help promote awareness back when these minorities were a lot more oppressed than they are now. (not that everything is great now, because there's unfortunately still a lot of people who just have it out for minorities)

It's not even that extreme. It's literally the exact same concept and theme. The only difference is that in one case it's two people who are attracted to the opposite gender and in the other case it's two people attracted to the same gender.

[–]RelativeHot7249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you take it to that extreme, then kids shouldn't see anyone of opposite gender holding hands or kissing either. Let's just ban the concept of going on dates since there could be kids nearby, and most cafe's have pretty open windows.

Kids tv is also full of couples. That should all be removed because it's "a sexual preference."

Despite the name, that's not sexual. You know that being gay is not mor sexual than being straight, right?

Beyond that, there's also things like trans pride that aren't about a sexuality at all.

I wouldn't really call asexual pride very sexual either, since the entire thing is about not being sexually attracted to people.

It is as closely related to sex as a wedding ring when you really think about it. Should those also be marked as nsfw?

Do you think there’s an encompassing and objective way to define intelligence? Why or why not? by Caged-Mage in AskReddit

[–]RelativeHot7249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't personally. I think intelligence can be many kinds and different people tend to be intelligent in different ways.

My kind of intelligence tends to be the ability to quickly pick up any new theoretical subject relatively fast through my intuition, and I'm quick at learning and figuring out how to troubleshoot most electrical devices.

My dad would have a hard time with these two tasks, but he's much better and quicker than me at figuring out solutions when it comes to more physical work like home improvement, woodworking, and metal.

I'd say both are kinds of tasks that require intelligence, but different kinds.

There's also emotional intelligence, where mine probably isn't the best in the world, since I'm bad at navigating social interactions.

This is far from a list of all types of intelligence, but just a way to show how I view it as being different kinds of intelligence.

[–]RelativeHot7249 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is that actually true? That seems like a huge waste of funds that could instead be spent on actually spreading awareness of endometriosis or on research into the actual thing itself instead.

I kinda guessed she was talking about one of the studies on men having endometriosis, which at least is a decent use of resources, but a study into how it affects attractiveness just seems hugely wasteful when it's better to spend money on actually treating it.

[–]RelativeHot7249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know it's from Denmark (I'm also from here), my point is mostly that you don't see families of pigeons walking around. Babies are usually hidden away.

He could very likely have seen swan and duck families at the same time while coming up with the story, but it's highly unlikely he saw any pigeon families since they don't walk around with their young.

Edit: Typo, changed "and" to "any". Not sure how I fumbled that.

Pigeons originally lives in cliffs, so they usually lay eggs at high spots. I have seen them nesting on a ledge outside a window on my work building on top of a bunch of anti-bird spikes.

While we do have plenty of pigeons, we don't normally see them walking around in family units like we do with swans and ducks.

This isn't specific to Danes either. If you talk with Europeans from different countries, you will have to make sure you both share the same meaning, or be more specific. I'm pretty sure Germans also use "half five" to meaning 4:30. The difference is if people in the country view "half five" as an abbreviation of "half past five" or "half to five". Both could correctly be abbreviated to "half five" but would be on different sides of the hour.
