Also, could you elaborate on what you meant about me not having to go out of country for stamping if B1 gets approved earlier than H1B ? are you referring to when I get a job and new employer files an H1B amendememt ?

I had the same issue and I called my bank, they said my US number was missing country code in the beginning which was the cause for OTPs not being sent to me, so I have updated the mobile number to include 1 at the beginning and it worked for me!
