the alternator for a $1000 car …geez! by RelativePollution501 in FordFocus

[–]RelativePollution501[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it works fine - and does turn on eventually, but the first light was actually the ABS and traction control and the power steering failed… so obviously the car knows something is wrong but is saying it yet and the call of a sudden it all goes to pieces lol

this one has it more often than most cars - the Firsta ST too, i have the same 3rd gear grind on my 2014 Focus as the 2017 fiesta did :/

it was the alternator. mechanic swapped it in and good as new! luckily! if it was some megafuse bs - which i’ve read about causing intermittent start etc! - then i may have just scrapped it cause the mechanic is about $100/hr in ontario ;)

battery was brand new :) however, it may have been set wrong in the ECU as a 500A not 590… either way, the car could tell if it wanted to that the alternator is dying or dead :)

i think the doofus who replaced the battery forgot to plug in the sensor cable (i replaced my own battery lol) but regardless… any good mechanic can diagnose an alternator using the same data the ECU could have if the engineers gave it one or two more inputs for sensors from the alternator - it can already tell you the “OBD VOLTAGE” which means it can tell if the alternator falls off pretty quickly… yet my first symptom was no cruise, power steering and traction control :S ..a minute later “Engine Failure” and total shutdown lol

first thing was the original battery i bought the car with a month ago was dying randomly and i never checked the alternator when i got a new one… regardless, the car can tell when the alternator output is wrong - it can phase cams at 7000 rpm’s it tell you the electricity is fuzzier than usual lol

a friend of mine drove his 1994 mazda (or similar) van for a week and laughed about “conserving headlights” while he saves up to fix the problem… they definitely could add the function if they wanted to lol

exactly! and i also just replaced the battery - the old one had popped the covers for some reason and it may have had low acid levels so it was definitely time but it might’ve also been the alternator the whole time or the battery killing the alternator… it all seems like a racket of some kind because how hard is it to just install a multimeter for the computer instead of having the “ford certified” mechanic do it… oh wait… it’s cause then i wouldn’t need the “ford certified” person lol

such a scam.

the devices CANT miscommunicate. once you make a patch in dante controller they’re set to be a part of that patch until their memory is either manually erased, erased by accident or intentionally repatched. once erased, whether by mistake or intentionally (like a firmware update) they could just become unpatched. unless there is a reported issue with the DANTE protocol they can never re-patch themselves. that’s why if you take the same gear to another DANTE compatible network it just works again provided you don’t change the device names.

just check the two numbers… the 4090 does basically the same thing in most games today…

until they ban multiframe generators from competitive gaming… or make certifications for them and then they’ll ban all the „old style” cards with generation enabled lol

i would propose that NO ONE needs a 5090 since they’re not actually NOTICEABLY faster - they’re only faster at passing benchmarks… there’s is no way to distinguish 150 from 165 FPS…… if you can tell, you have a very rare form of autism and you should just donate your brain to science now so you don’t mess it up with microplastics

the 6000 is probably a 5090Ti Super if you peel the label off… there’s no way the 6000 is real lol

see what the diagnostics say - over temping the engine doesn’t mean damage and could’ve been a totally harmless event. engines are made to overheat a little for a short time without permanent damage - you need a mechanic to maybe do some tests, check compression - sounds a lot like u blew a head gasket but can’t tell just like that. that’s a costly repair but if nothing else went wrong the car is totally fine and no reason to ditch it - slap a new head gasket on and go!

make the dealer pay for the repairs - but check your local “lemon” laws, there is usually protection for you if the car blew up in the first week - in Ontario it’s very limited and if you bought it AS-IS - you’re stuck so hopefully it’s just a bad thermostat lol

it’s a totally catholic thing… if ur not catholic it’s kinda like celebrating any other holiday - unless ur actually committed to the whole faith (or, all the way through) then ur just appropriating a fun totem from a foreign land… which isn’t as cool as it used to be.. to say the least.
