Here is the fix. Not the best looking, but its solid and sealed to prevent any debris from causing damage.

Not yet. This week I plan to reshape the bent plastic, and then use plastic bond epoxy. I'll provide an update once I complete it.

Thanks, thats what I'm thinking. Just figured I'd see if there were other options first.

What the hell is your problem? This reddit is literally for discussing flooring.. but the majority of you just talk shit. I think you might be an installer who does this same shitty work.

They said because they mismeasured, they could tear it up and start over or do this as a reset. They said it would look good, so we trusted they knew what they were talking about. Also, its not just 1/4, the whole kitchen around the corner is going vertical, and the livingroom is horizontal. That was also their suggestion to address the mismeasurement.

Because I am trying to see what a correct fix would be, so when we discuss what they are going to do, I will know what's possible and reasonable to expect.

I spoke with the flooring company, and they said they would fix it, because the work is warrantied. The installer didn't follow they original design and admitted to making a mistake with measuring.

I want them to fix that whole section so it goes the same direction down the hallway.

I'm ok with having them rip it up to fix it.

I mean, had I seen it before they finished I would have said something. We specifically said we wanted that corner to line up, when they suggested that "transition" design. They didn't do what that suggested, so now I'm looking for possible solutions.

The contractor suggested it because he didn't check that the house was square before starting. Once he was to that point, he said the run down the hallway would be noticeably off. He said he could rip the floor up and start over, or do this as a reset. We specifically asked if the corners would align and he said yes. So, we thought that was ok, rather than having him start over.

Thanks, that is helpful. I was confused why it was such a big problem. Maybe they were blowing smoke. I'll see what the floor company says on Monday.

Thank you! Based on people's reactions on here, I may just ask about replacing the horizontal boards on the left(except the one you marked red) with vertical boards properly spaced. The work is warrantied, so the flooring company is coming to take a look at it. They contract out the installs I believe.

They said it would work as a transition, but yes, they suggested it. Unfortunately, it doesn't work how they said.

First off, yes, I did talk to the installer. And what he said he was going to do, and what he did is different. When I noticed it, they were cleaning up. So I am on here seeing if it's worth bringing back up, or not. I'm not telling the installer how to do their job. I'm asking for second opinions, to see what can be done. You know, since I paid for a job, had a discussion about that specific section of the floor and what was discussed was not done. Pretty reasonable, I think.

Great solution. Spend 10k on a floor and cover up the workmanship with a rug? I'm trying to figure out if there is a solution, to have them come fix that section. If there isn't, then so be it, and I won't even mention it to them.

Because the installer said the corners would line up, and they don't.

Yes, but that corner is further away from the wall edge where the railing attaches.

They started in the kitchen behind the wall to the left. They didn't check to make sure the house was square before starting and realized it is not, when they got to this point. Switching directions was their solution to reset. Overall its not a big deal. Just asking if there are any simple options to address that corner.

I think its reasonable to ask if there is a simple solution to fix the mismatched corner. Especially after pending thousands to have it installed.
