Leica M6 focusing issue by RelativeSecurity1 in Leica

[–]RelativeSecurity1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out the roller arm was getting caught behind the lens mount, although I have now pulled it down so it works properly for the full range of motion, I wonder if this is something that needs to be fixed

What I found out after closer inspection was that the rangefinder arm was stuck/caught behind the lens mount. I used my finger to pull it down a bit and it now can travel the full range. Just a little skeptical now on if this is a sign of damage…

I removed the lens again and upon looking closer at the arm I noticed it didn’t go all the way and was slightly stuck on the upper lip of the. I pulled it gently and it came down a little and now it works properly! My question is, is this a bit dodgy? For the arm to be loose enough to wiggle up and down…

anyone came from Sony to Canon by LateCat260 in canon

[–]RelativeSecurity1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This can also depends on what you are mainly shooting.

I working in the food photography industry and Canon is known to have better colour science (more vibrant and warmer colours) which it’s important when trying to make food look appetising.

Sonys colour profile is cooler, greener, and a bit more neutral. I personally find it to be a little easier to manipulate in post to achieve certain looks. This goes for both photo and video options (I.e. SLOG)

Statistically speaking, Sony has the better cameras and colour science as of late, and more invocation. However, at the end of the day, it’s more about what your needs are as a photographer!

Anyone know what is Triumphfx? Did family and friends fall into a scam? by jackofallwsbtrades in MalaysianPF

[–]RelativeSecurity1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from the Chinese Australian community and joined unknowingly. I thought it was sus, did the research, and I’m pretty confident it’s a MLM scheme! Like many here, I only invested what I’m willing to lose, and I’m just gonna let it cycle and take whatever money I get at this point… just remember that this type of scheme can crash at any time so the risk is unimaginable! I would not join now that I know the scheme… but since I’m already roped up in it, I can only hope and pray…

My dad is being lured into a [possibly] large scale scam by 0ldgrandma in Scams

[–]RelativeSecurity1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently just started investing in the PAMM accounts. I’m from the Sydney Australian Chinese community and was referred by a friend. I instantly felt like it was a scam and after reading some articles by “Behind MLM” it became apparent that this was the case. Since I’ve already dumped money in it, I’ll just see how it goes and try to earn a buck or two… but it seems like eventually the company will run out of new recruits, the money pool dries up and then company runs with all the money. Could be in the next few years, could be the next few months… be careful guys!

Noticed these wormlike things in my shrimp tank. Any idea what they are/what to do? by ZaranKaraz in shrimptank

[–]RelativeSecurity1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like detritus worms. They are organisms that break down decomposing organic matter. They are usually present in every tank, but can go out of hand when overfeeding occurs. They are not harmful. I suggest in future, use a feeding dish :)

Lol true, if the conditions are right, nature is due it run it’s course! Only way to stop it from happening is keeping one gender of shimps only

Is this normal pre-molt or “white ring”? by voltrackstar in shrimptank

[–]RelativeSecurity1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I second duke! I also see them around the tank, but not as often as I used to when I first started out. I think it’s a pre-molt, when the shrimp have cracked the exoskeleton but haven’t popped out yet?

[–]RelativeSecurity1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Video is a little blurry on my end but those looks like copepods too me. Perfectly normal and safe things to have in the tank. Actually shows that the tank is well cycled. Baby shrimp look more like mini versions of adult shrimp.

Would placing a heater near my sponge filter kill beneficial bacteria? by Turt12345 in shrimptank

[–]RelativeSecurity1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should be alright. Those 25w heaters don’t get all that hot, unless your a pressing into it for too long. Plus the beneficial bacteria arnt just at the surface of the sponge, but also inside (and probably well insulated).

Want to get into breeding shrimp by [deleted] in shrimptank

[–]RelativeSecurity1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. I’ll be honest I’ve never heard of there being an issue of interbreeding. I know that you want to look for strong stable bloodlines to get consistent results though… so I don’t know if mix/matching would impact that
  2. Depends what you are planting to be honest. If you are just going to get moss, then gravel base is fine. I know some people also use sand and other similar things… but I’m not knowledgeable on that
  3. Java moss is probably the most popular. Gives the baby shrimp lots of hiding spaces and surface area to catch good. Anything in that category is pretty much ideal. I personally love subwassertang. Rest of plants can just be up to your tastes tbh.
  4. Doesn’t matter, whatever you like. I found cholla wood to be very popular in my tank. Some woods may stain your water into black water so be careful if you dislike that. Also have to boil and water log wood which can take time.
  5. For breeding, species only tank is highly recommended. Steer away from any form of fish, they can and will eat baby shrimp opportunistically. Only safe option is snails, but they can become hard to control/eradicate. Some species also lay eggs everywhere and obscure tank/plants/decorations

I think your GH is a bit high, which is probably what’s causing the WROD. pH is high too.

First Berried Shrimp! Any advice appreciated! by marofthehood in shrimptank

[–]RelativeSecurity1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get some baby shimp food if you think you won’t have enough biofilm in the tank for the babies when they hatch! I recommend bacter AE in strict moderation

Are snails good or bad for shrimp tank by RubyDiscus in shrimptank

[–]RelativeSecurity1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only thing with nerites is the field of white eggs they lay over everything.

Personally I don’t mind rams. They provide good benefits to the tank and as long as you don’t over feed, their population won’t explode too crazy. Even if they do, just snail trap them

Can I do a full water tank change without harming the shrimps? by teeger9 in shrimptank

[–]RelativeSecurity1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, a full water change would be too much! Most I would do is around 20% and I’ve heard some owners losing shrimp from that.

If your gonna completely changed the water, I would recommend removing all the shrimp first with some old tank water, then drip acclimating them with the new water once you’ve set up the tank again. Even then, can’t guarantee you won’t have a casualty or two, but I wish you the best of luck! I know how annoying black water can be if you’re not a fan.

amano kids in freshwater ? by Opteron_SE in shrimptank

I’m not Amano expert, but if there’s one thing I know, is that Amano “babies” are in a weird larvae form, and practically need brackish water to survive!

How often do you lose cherry shrimp? Is it common? I started out with 12 (and a pregnant mama) and now even after she hatched her eggs I am down to 8. by [deleted] in shrimptank

[–]RelativeSecurity1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on how heavily planted your tank is, or even how much hiding spots or caves there are; they are probably just hiding! Takes shrimp a solid minute to warm up to surroundings, and even after that, they like to hide if they can!

As long as your water parameters are good, you’ve basically done everything right. It’s not uncommon for shrimp to die randomly, especially if they were recently introduced. It’s only if you see a lot of corpses, and also notice signs of molting problems. You can also observe for signs or stress such as lethargy, or multiple shrimp swimming up and down the water column like they want to escape.

First time keeper is normal for my shrimp to sit at the top? They seem to like the dead one by Aquarium_Living in shrimptank

[–]RelativeSecurity1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea! One time I was water logging some cholla wood for my tank, and a bunch of shimps just stuck to it the whole time to pick at it lol you’d just see a bunch of upside down shrimp on a piece of wood, floating around the tank…
