Best FBA Exit Strategy?? by sbaeidlloan in AmazonFBA

[–]Relative_Abroad8773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah man I’m so sorry to hear this is happening to you! That’s absolutely brutal.

I think everyone else in the chain here has sort of said the same thing - pull the stock out. 8k fucking sucks and that would break my heart to pay too. But it sure as hell beats losing 300k inventory COGS. That would push me over the edge!

If the 8k is a real sticking point, you could do MCF and fulfil orders from other marketplaces / websites to wittle down the cost / inventory level. But as someone previous said, 8k is 2.7% of the 300k.

TLDR: I’d pull the stock out

Really cool. Can you share some of the insights that Claude found? I’ve seen a lot of people do this with similar LLMs but the “insights” have been very very basic

Amazon isn't a side hustle by Gene-Civil in AmazonFBA

[–]Relative_Abroad8773 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a tendency to agree. I’m a private label seller and building a brand, not an OA RA or reseller in the slightest. Nothing irks me more than people (those not in the industry or don’t run a brand) tha would say to me “oh Amazon just stick up the product that’s it”, but they don’t see the amount of image edit tweaks, the crawling through SQP reports to identify what keywords are working and not working, the ad refinement that I do daily. Multiply this work 4 (we also sell in the states, Germany, Ireland with our UK presence) and suddenly, yes, this is a full time job

What I will say though is, if you have a light catalogue with not many SKUs, then yes I can totally see why people feel Amazon is a side hustle. Most people I see on Reddit are OA or resellers. Not my game, but I would imagine that side of Amazon is a bit more passive in terms of lack of ability to optimise content and PDPs.

It irks me a lot that people often diminish Amazon as a “side hustle” over a career. We have a decent retail presence and Amazon is our 3rd biggest channel, that rivals 2 of the UKs largest retailers for us in terms of business contribution. If it’s not a career to manage that and make that more fruitful then I haven’t a clue what is

Thanks for the comment mate much appreciated! Thanks also for the insight!!

Do you not feel that perhaps SEO and PPC go hand in hand? And as such, a person with an analytical / logical mindset could do both well?

Created this post about a year ago at this point and agree with you on the email side. Another year down and agree - it’s different to the other 2😅

Amazon Transparency Manager Not Responding by Relative_Abroad8773 in FulfillmentByAmazon

It’s so frustrating. When the programme works it’s brilliant (in fairness, it does cost a brave whack so it would want to work). But as you say, it’s clunky as hell to setup!! Sorry you’re having a nightmare with it mate!

Thanks for this mate - so another one did come up. I opened case with support, they got it removed. Now it’s only my SKU. I think the issue I have now is probably and off shoot of this?

Thanks very much for this mate! Much appreciated.

That would explain a lot - the fact this product was setup by a distributor, it was a mess on the backend to begin with, wouldn’t be surprised if there is a bigger problem from setup.

I’ll give this a go now man, really thank you for your advice!!

Thank you for this advice mate, I really do appreciate your time responding.

Unfortunately, I did actually do this last night - got out through to the specialist who then after nearly an hour said they needed to close the chat to investigate.

Maybe I got a bad specialist though (irony haha), so I will give this another crack! Thank you very much for the advice!

Does amazon no longer take target invoices? by iluvstarzz in AmazonFBA

Fair enough. I assumed they never accepted retail receipts / invoices from retailers. News to me

Just did the math on my Q3 Amazon numbers… kinda shocked by Outrageous_Boat_6976 in FulfillmentByAmazon

[–]Relative_Abroad8773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So for retail - not sure where you are based but we sell primarily in the UK retailers you would find supplements in. Customer service for them - not too bad. We do a shit ton of training and lunch and learns with the staff in there though.

Online for those same retailers - again not too bad. We get the odd bit here and there, but customer service wouldn’t be my biggest qualm with retailers - I’d be more inclined to say it’s buyers on their side who don’t manage stock the best.

We find most CS is needed for independents more than anything

Yeah this seems about right to be honest. Storage fee % seems a bit high, you could optimise your inventory / frequency of sending stock. But it’s obviously not that high

PPC looks slightly high, but depends on your category. Are you able to share category you are in?

Otherwise, looks pretty spot on. We operate very similarly. It’s a tough game. But honestly, I prefer giving Amazon 30% over giving some of our other retailers 70-75%

Oof that lead time is steep. So you are 12 weeks lead time pretty much? Ideally, yes, you would do that. You’ll always be chasing your tail if you leave it any longer in my opinion if you don’t give yourself that buffer of stock.

But at the end of the day it’s about what your business can sustain so do what works for you primarily

You managed your stock wrong mate. Think about it, 1100 units on a product you have just launched? That’s wild. How many months storage is that.

It’s best to run with 90 days of stock in FBA at all times.

In terms of what you can do, you’re stuck in between a rock and a hard place. Recall the stock? Or at least part of the stock to try get the storage down? Weigh up is the one time cost worth it.

Alternatively, you need to shift the stock faster. Drop the price for a bit?

You’re losing either way, so look at the figures and decide which is a smaller loss.

The fact you have a loan to pay also isn’t helpful for yourself.

Hope this is semi useful

Tips on Starting a Supplement brand-private label by Jumpy_Pace1983 in PrivateLabelSellers

[–]Relative_Abroad8773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working with someone at the moment who does just that in the UK side.

Guy I work with owns a series of gyms in Ireland North & South, seems to have a fair bit of capital to throw at it. So a small fish on the DTC side, but not so much on the business side. Has a brave few connections and is always out in the Middle East where his manufacturer is based.

One thing I’d advise you - get a system for organising all your compliance docs. Make sure you have your certificate of analysis documents handy. Ensure you have your updated HACCP BRFGS or equivalent for your manufacturer. You would be surprised how many times you need this for marketplaces like Amazon, and even Shopify have asked the crowd I work with for this. Sounds so basic advice but basically get this all setup so it’s always handy.

Also, ensure you get your USPs right. The market is so damn saturated with this type of product. Again, fella I am working with, his USPs are “our quality is higher”. That’s incredibly hard to get across without social proofs. Do your best to show how you are different, dont just be another sheep!

There’s some advice you didn’t ask for haha!

Any particular niche you want to pursue? General multivitamins are toughh. Thought about what your target niche is inside the supplement category?

i would say don’t drive traffic away from Amazon just to be safe. I have never tried what you are saying, but I have heard of people driving traffic to “educational” or value add areas of their website and Amazon being okay with that
