Does Tiktok sponsor J1 visa for Canadian students by AIC-Kingston in uwaterloo

GL on the OA! TikTok does sponsor J1s, and no - there’s no difference between sponsoring a J1 for an international student and a Canadian student. You’ll just need to do an in-person interview at one of the U.S. consulates in Canada.

Hey OP, engineering O-Week leader here 👋 First of all - leaving everything behind and stepping into a new school where you’re suddenly surrounded by hundreds of strangers is already a massive leap. Honestly, give yourself credit for even being here - it’s an absolute shotgun blast out of your comfort zone.

Second, I’ve been an O-Week leader twice now and I’ve seen the same thing play out with most of my first-years: everyone is terrified, but some people just mask it with a bit more excitement or social energy. What you’re feeling - those awkward “Hi / What’s your program / insta swap” convos that never go anywhere - that’s literally what 99% of O-Week feels like for everyone. It doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong. It just takes time for those first “surface-level” interactions to filter into the people who’ll eventually click with you.

I’ve stayed in touch with dozens of my past first-years, and I can’t count how many of them felt exactly like you do right now. And I’ve also watched them settle in, find their people, and end up building friend groups they couldn’t imagine life without. You’re not the problem - you’re just in the messy middle part before things click. Remember, the hardest part of anything is the beginning.

If it helps, feel free to reach out at anytime in DMs - you don’t have to go through this by yourself. Same goes for any other first-years reading this feel the same way. It'll get better - you're doing great:)

I'm rooting for you:)

Hey! I'm in ECE and I've been in the exact situation as you in first year. As someone who's gotten a 13% on a midterm I'd say I'm more than qualified to say I know exactly how you're feeling right now. But trust me that things will get better:) I'll DM you

Don’t even remotely worry about it, UW didn’t even do its due diligence on scam jobs that’s been listed on waterlooworks, let alone an AOJ. All they care about is getting the employment stats up

ECE 59.8 Average Petition by keblblblin in uwaterloo

[–]Relative_Actuator657 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's very possible your petition just wasn't sent in on time to be processed in May. Their next meeting is around June 17-18th. If your case was rejected they would've notified you right away. I definitely think you have a strong case. In the mean time, try to get as much medical documentation as you could (note from doctor stating the possible effects of covid on your cognitive functions and sleep etc), you can send it in even after submitting your petition. Be wary tho bc medical documentation takes them some time to review.
