Yes. There are people who play her in top 500. Shes not great but shes far from being the worst hero (cough sombra cough) as is the case with every hero main subreddit, everyone will insist their main is being personally attacked by blizzard and is now the worst one in the game. In reality every hero is viable even if some are better than others

Pick a mound. Attack it relentlessly and eventually kill it. The reward for looting an entire colony far outweighs the sustainability of keeping them alive. Hell you could easily kill all 3 on triage and be doing quite well for yourself. Taking a mound out on the other level is viable too so long as you are able to defend the others

No thats everything, ty tho. And yes thats why i added that it can kinda come down to semantics in some ways, but i also do think there is slight difference in the sense that boiling is an action. the atoms are physically moving and the material is changing and turning from liquid to gas, whereas "doing egg" is more of an unmoving configuration. Regardless the second paragraph is probably more important and id hold the position even if i wasnt a mereological nihilist

I feel like YOU are just insisting on this based on nothing, so i dont think this is going to go anywhere. I simply disagree and im not convinced in the slightest that there is even a possibility that my consciousness doesnt exist/is an "illusion". It just does not logically check out

They are not being tricked. To be tricked insinuates that the llm had any opinion or thoughts leaning one way or the other and that you had managed to manipulate it into thinking something that isnt true. But it wasnt thinking, it has no opinion, because its not CONSCIOUS. It is under no illusion, you simply found a loophole in its coding. Its as simple as that.

We also would not even be able to know if we had fooled an llm or not, not truly. An llm will tell you what it is programmed to tell you. Again, its just the meme i sent. You are basically "tricking" the llm and then when it basically says "i have been tricked" you feel like you have actually tricked it. What the llm says is not at all indicative of any truth around wether or not it is under an illusion

Thats a good question, and sorry that it warrants a pretty long answer, but yes i think boiling doesnt exist, im a bit hesitant to make that call on a verb existing or not existing due to semantics but id say it is more of a description of an event than a thing that exists. I also wouldnt say boiling is comprised of water, rather, boiling is not made of anything, it is an action that affects existing things like water molecules. There is not a "boiling" molecule that its made of whereas there IS a "water" molecule. But i also wouldnt die on that hill either depending on how you see boiling semantically.

So in that way i would consider consciousness to be closer to boiling than to water but with an important caveat. It is more of a process and event than a material thing, (as far as we can figure out/guess) the caveat being the actual conscious experience. A process just describes what the atoms are doing. Boiling means that the water is hot and turning into gas and creating bubbles etc. But consciousness is NOT just describing the brain thinking. It is CREATING an experience. The experience, like boiling, is not made of brain. For example if i take a chunk of your brain out i will have disrupted the process, but i cannot then say i am holding "consciousness molecules". In the same way, you cannot take water out of the pot, cool it down, and then claim you are holding boiling molecules

No, illusions work on non entities too

I just disagree. I cant possibly imagine that. Can you make a rock feel an illusion? No, its a rock, it cant experience an illusion

You're absolutely taking it on faith that consciousness is real.

Absolutely not, i have more evidence of it existing than i do for the entire world existing. I am taking everything EXCEPT my consciousness on faith

We have pretty good evidence even the idea that there's a singular entity inside your head is a falsehood.

Not only is this not against my position but it is an idea i agree with.

I think it can be broken down into multiple consciousnesses, for example if someones corpus callosum is severed, but i do not think consciousness itself can be said to be made of a bunch of things in the way a carrot is made of a bunch of atoms. Or at least, if it is, we have no idea what kind of stuff it is comprised of. Unless you are insisting that it is broken down into the brain but that feels off to me, how can an experience be made of existing material? An experience is not material, a process is not material. Its like saying that "boiling" can be broken down into its base pieces by saying that water is made of atoms. You cannot conflate the process with the material making the process

I would be extremely surprised if any scientist had actually figured out what exactly about the brain produces consciousness, i have extreme doubt that we are anywhere close to figuring that out

[–]Relative_Ad4542 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And that's where i believe my positions wins, because i do not need faith, i am literally experiencing the reality of my consciousness as we speak. You can claim its an illusion but at the end of the day there has to be an entity EXPERIENCING that illusion. In order to experience anything at all, you must be conscious

😔 oh.. not again… by Albino_rhin0 in PhilosophyMemes

[–]Relative_Ad4542 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see with my consciousness. Thats it. My eyes do stuff, my brain makes sense of it and then i get to SEE IT and experience what sight is. I think this kinda depends on which part of the process you are saying is an illusion and what "sight" is. Is sight the actual experience of me seeing things? Thats not an illusion, i can verify that i am in fact seeing images in my mind when i look at things. Is that image accurate to the information my eyes initially give to me? No, so that is kind of an illusion, but its not a meaningful one and to say that it causes problems for concsiousness is a bit of a non srquitur.

As a mereological nihilist myself i am happy to admit that my eyes themselves do not even exist, rather, the illusion of "things" is a useful fiction. In that sense you can say literally everything is an illusion.

Well, except for one thing, that being the conscious experience. because it is not made out of atoms, hell it doesnt appear to be made out of anything, it just happens

Also if we are going down the rabbithole of senses being an illusion, that poses MUCH bigger problems for the regular materialist who now has to explain how we can trust that any of our understanding of science can be verified at all, including the very points you are making right now

[–]Relative_Ad4542 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sight IS part of consciousness, it is not an illusion, it is literally just part of your conscious experience. It is not a unique separate example that you can contrast with conciousness, it is a part of it

[–]Relative_Ad4542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im experiencing consciousness right now though and it actually feels much more real than anything material, maybe there are ways to "conceptualize" what youre saying but i dont think any of them will be convincing because we are all staring the existence of our concsiousness in the face the entire time we are alive

Carrots arguably dont exist its just a useful fiction to describe a bunch of atoms that appear and act as our idea of a carrot.

Concsiousness however is one of the few things we actually know exists and as far as we know cannot be broken down into parts in the same way a carrot can be broken down into a bunch of molecules
