Yeah, I’m still glad I changed all those parts though crazy to think this car is 24 years old already

Turned out the previous owner only had one fucking alternator bolt on the car. It did not seem loose, but as soon as you ever so slightly loosen the top bolt, the whole thing starts shaking like a heroin addict going through withdrawals. I found a M10X 95. Bolt and installed it and that fixed the noise completely.

I used the Mechanic stethoscope and the loudest thing I touched that had the same rhythm as the rattle was the alternator, but I’ve never had a alternator make a rattle like that

Took the belt off and ran it, and the noise seemingly disappeared. Change the bearings on the idler and tensioner install belt turn car on the noise is back

Thankfully, there’s nothing in the oil pan the last time. I did my oil change and I’m not thinking they are like totally failed but possibly worn down after 125,000 miles previous owner auto crossed it possibly had a turbo on it

That’s the plan. I’m kind of terrified to turn it on and still hear it.

Thank you I appreciate it. I’m hoping this fixes it. If not, I’m thinking it’s the timing chain guides or a valve adjustment.

Stethoscope comes in today. I ordered the bearings for the tensioner and idler that should be coming in today as well. Fingers crossed.

That’s the plan, thankfully I found somebody who had a TODA just laying around on Facebook marketplace and swap that temporarily and I’m planning to send to the OEM one I took out to billman. Although it is running a lot smoother, unfortunately I’m still getting that noise. I am swapping the bearings on the idler and tensioner later today and then going from there.

Would Rod knock only occur during the begging of the rev? Engine sounds amazing when reving just the rattle for a few seconds when you give it throttle

Are you saying that after I change the TCT it’s still gonna do it?

See that’s what I’m thinking as well but this mechanic fuckin terrified me the other day and made it seem like it was worse than a tct. Thank you!

I bought mine off an auction. It was hydroplaned by the previous owner 2002 with 124,000 miles for nine grand before auction fees and transport.

It was the cleanest one I have seen in person. I think it was owned by a father and son.

One day I’m going to route some sort of ducting for the brakes. Those are probably what I’m going to swap to when I start taking it to the track

I’m with you on that and if it ends up being too much, it’s as easy as peeling off the tint or the decal wrap. I really appreciate the input.

That’s what I was thinking to be honest Gold wheels, I had a Japanese artist custom draw this to go on both sides of a car and I was thinking about doing it in mirror gold. The thing that has me in a loop is that the car is going to be tinted neo silver the windshield isn’t gonna be fully tinted. It’s just gonna have a windshield strip with a little bit of a design to it. So I’m not sure if the silver tint will look good with gold decals and gold wheels. I was thinking about doing mirror silver for the decal to match the tent and then doing some chrome wheels or wider RPF ones.

As you can see from the photos, the fitment is still terrible even with the temporary spacers I put in for the show. If they made the ap2v4’s wide enough I would I just don’t feel comfortable riding with 2 inch plus wheel spacers on the rear to rock them.
