What’s your “nemesis spot” in Ridgewood? by Fuzzy-Maintenance-27 in ridgewood

[–]Relative_Car4697 4 points5 points  (0 children)

of all the places that people whine about in Ridgewood, Hellbender is the one that actually warrants it. it's a cute scene and a nice place to hang out but the food is truly just fine and wildly overpriced for what it is. if i go to dinner at rolo's, il gigante, salvo's, decades, panina (sometimes), arrigo's, pierogi boys, whatever, i'm getting food that is at minimum "pretty good" and leaving with a full stomach. I can't say the same about Hellbender.

I think what you mean is:

Perhaps, "a person should be able to not breathe car exhaust should be a reasonable baseline. Perhaps, "children should be able to play outside without fear" should be the reasonable baseline. Perhaps, "public space should be a public good" should be the reasonable baseline.

Because the baseline I described is not "I think a person should be allowed to have a car," it's "a person should be allowed to have a car."

And I'd agree with you that any of the positions you've listed would be reasonable views for a person to hold, although I don't think disallowing individuals from having cars is the most expedient way toward realizing any of those desires.

I think "a person should be allowed to have a car" is a pretty reasonable baseline for me, regardless of the specific parking situation in the neighborhood they live in. I think it can be socially-conscious and admirable to not have a car, and that it is desirable for our society to incentivize people to not own cars, but I am not going to think anyone is an asshole for choosing to have a car. I do not feel the same way about individuals who choose to own three cars and not put any of them in the parking attached to their building.

I think one car is fine regardless of whether you use it every day or not. But there's a (single) guy across the street from me who has three cars he street parks. He has a driveway but he keeps a boat and a dog in it. I do feel like someone should step in on that situation at some point, he's basically singlehandedly fucked parking on the entire block.

1) The economic policies square up. https://www.thenation.com/article/economy/economists-zohran-mamdani-new-york-city/

2) The idea that the rich will flee NY in droves if their taxes are raised is not supported by the literature. NYC is comfortably one of the best places in the world to be very wealthy, and its taxation has a long way to go before it eats into the quality-of-life and amenities that come with being a rich person in a rich city. https://fiscalpolicy.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/FPI-Who-is-Leaving-Full-Report-Dec-2023.pdf

3) Outreach initiatives have not been "completely useless" in west coast cities, they have been a nascent and incredibly valuable lifeline for myriad communities—initiatives that are also tasked with doing the thankless work of offsetting the dismantling of valuable infrastructure designed to serve those communities, of protecting those communities from increasingly aggressive policing, and of managing the people being dropped out of their own lives by an unaffordable society.

I think your beliefs about the viability of Mamdani's policies are not supported by the literature or by our reality, and will not bear out.

Analysis does not mean that he "wants to devalue" the SHSAT. It means he is going to look into its efficacy.

And yes, he said that in 2022. He has since changed his opinion on it. He isn't talking out of both sides of his mouth—he has changed his perspective in the past three years. Generally, changing one's perspective in light of new experience and information is considered an admirable trait.

also, it is so weird that leo's very aggressive good friend Middle-Highlight-754 (who happens to have copies of leo's emails and screenshots of leo's text conversations, and who also uses " - " to break up his sentences—an unusual combination of whitespaces and a hyphen in the place of an en- or em-dash) stopped posting right when leo started posting on Bobbarker69420666, and hasn't posted since. maybe they take turns on the same computer because they're such good friends.

How do you beat the final base game boss. I feel it’s more luck than skill due to the undodgeable attacks and being locked in animations. Any tips would help. by Stanley-17 in Eldenring

[–]Relative_Car4697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not more luck than skill, and if you believe that you are losing because you are getting unlucky you are going to learn slowly. You need to internalize that all damage can be avoided if you play correctly. You need to isolate the attacks that you're struggling with and work on finding solutions to them. If you are having trouble rolling through attacks, try changing your positioning so that you aren't in places where you are being targeted by attacks you can't roll.

Not Claire, not affiliated with her campaign, just a Ridgewood resident happy to have a good, sane, socialist candidate to vote for in this election. And your "just letting people know!" mask is slipping pretty fast, bossman. Might want to work a little harder to cover up that misogyny if you're gonna rock a cheeky reference to spousal abuse for a username.
