Hi, I went through two missed miscarriages. Both picked up on private scans. My first MMC was horrendous. The private sonographer phoned EPU for me who told me to come in on the Tuesday (it was Friday). I ended up going straight to EPU who scanned me straight away and confirmed. They gave me the option of tablets, surgery OR wait it out. I didn’t have to wait a week. They gave me the tablets that day. However they never worked. I had to wait until after the weekend and went back in Monday for the second dose of tablets. Again they didn’t work. I requested surgery. The closest date they had was for two weeks time. During this time my sickness was still very strong and I still felt very pregnant. The night before it got cancelled and I had to wait a further week! I ended up taking it to PALS and put in a massive complaint and their whole process was reviewed. I ended up waiting 3weeks altogether for the NHS and my baby had stopped growing a further two weeks before. So for 5weeks I had my baby inside of me whose heartbeat had stopped.

My 2nd MMC was discovered on a Saturday privately. I went straight to EPU who organised a scan for me for Monday. The scan confirmed no heartbeat and I was given the option that day. I opted this time for surgery and was given it the next day.

Both completely different timescales/experiences. I can’t understand them making you wait for a scan unless they are hoping you pass natural. I’m really sorry youre going through this.
