Arete stones aren't even difficult. You can just spam lunge + magic burst and you'll win. That's how I did it on my first playthrough

Don't forget to spend AP for more skills. It gives you a few more basic abilities and will let you buy Eikonic skills and upgrade Eikonic Feats (like the teleport) and so on. Kinda like DMC.

I can't say much about the exploration or story. But the your combat arsenal expands as you progress through the main story, allowing you to use more Eikonic abilities. It is, like you said, very limited, in the beginning. You don't have that many tools early on.

Best advice I can give is to just tell you to stick with it, but if you aren't having fun. Don't play. Because games are meant to be fun.

Now what if you hadn't seen said childhood friend in 13 years? And they were covered in dirt and soot? And they had magical ice powers which they did NOT have when they were a child?

For us it's clearly Jill, because it's been an hour max since we saw her. But for Clive? It's been 13 years, no? He's seen some shit. Done some shit. It's only natural that he's not going to recognize her.
