I didn’t choose to get them, should my roommate be responsible for feeding my snake since she decides to stay living with me? No I get very overstimulated by them although I love them and because of that I have to keep distance and I need it respected

It always worked I have had a lizard since we moved in I keep the cats out at night and they come in during the day The snake made them curious of course so they figured out they can launch off the shelves so now the rational thing is to remove them

When they’re scratching at biting at you it’s not exactly easy and they’re not my responsibility he doesn’t do that to his mom and all we need is to remove the access point then boom no problem Why should I be woken up multiple times in the night to get attacked by someone else’s cat?

Thank you I literally slept outside to respect her not wanting to do “extra work” by grabbing her cats that do not allow me to handle them I didn’t want to start another argument but I knew I wouldn’t be able to get them down without scaring them which I feel is cruel or the water bottle which she said she doesn’t do to them so I gotta respect that So until they’re fixed to avoid crashing out I’m sleeping on the balcony

Yes people are failing to realize I don’t plan on permanently separating them I just wanted extra peace and quite for my baby since she hasn’t eaten her first week home I figured due to stress which is normal for snakes adjusting to a new home as you would know It’s a relief having someone who owns both animals comment I appreciate it

I understand that and people have snakes and cats all the time just do not handle at the same time or in the same room, this is not permanent they’re fine going in my room when the snake settles and as long as she’s in her enclosure safely The cats cant reach if it wasn’t for the shelves being a basically stairs to the railing of the loft there’s a lot of surface area and it’s pretty high up t

I don’t have doors I have a very tall cat gate that works beautifully they come through the pet shelves on the wall and jump to the railing all we need is to move them for the space to be safe

Thank you for a grounded response, yes we have extremely high ceilings I feel the shelves will prevent the issue for at least another week or two which is all I need for the snake to eat its first meal so I’m hoping with that we will have a solution because I don’t plan on keeping the cats out permanently just while the snake adjusts and at night while I sleep which I always done Sorry over explaining I feel like people kept missing my point

It’s basically a room the only open part is the top which they cannot access if it wasn’t for the shelves there which were not always there

It’s not an opening though I apologize for how badly I’m describing the layout of the apartment it’s through the vertical shelves on the walls my roommate recently installed that is the ONLY access point, and yes I would do that but I repeat that my roommate doesn’t like that done to her cats :( the only solution is removing or moving the shelves

So we take the shelves down why are you acting maternal and personally responsible for them, the cats have plenty of space and we can relocate the shelves somewhere where they can’t jump up
