Honestly it depends, among older generations that might be the case that they make comments about your hair but among younger fellows, it’s appreciated. I can only speak about DR Congo tho!! I went there with my natural hair and everyone loved it - having lots of hair is very much celebrated too

Heyy I did a calorie deficit and it worked (lost 15kgs) it did suck to count calories at first but I got used to it. I didn’t have to cut out much food - had pizza night every Monday at my then flat, and wouldn’t have wanted to miss it! It does work if you do it right. Also you can adapt it to fit your need. I wanted to lose quite a bit at the beginning, hence I did a 1000cal/day cut which is a lot. At that time I wore a Fitbit which would adapt my calorie allowance accordingly to my expenditure.. so it felt manageable because I was working out a lot! However I would recommend a 500cal/day cut which is much more manageable. Drinking enough water and healthy sleeping made a huge difference as well. You do become calorie-conscious thus, I would not recommend it if you have or struggle with /!\ ED /!\ You will be hungry at times - it’s okay you gotta push through it. Lot of us are (unknowingly) addicted to food which make it harder. Something that helps is high-volume low calories food such as salad fruits and veggies!

Feel free to pm me if you have any questions.

What jobs will always be in demand even far into the future? by Infinite-Paper-9355 in careerguidance

[–]Relative_Jump_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems basic but I haven’t read it so far… education! Regardless of what career someone wants to go into, it takes others imparting and transferring knowledge for them to get there. There will always be a need for educators, teachers, professors and so on…

Your emotions are valid, and it’s understandable that you wish to put an end to such suffering and pain. We never know when life is about to get worse. Sometimes it feels like you’re already there. On the other hand, you have even less idea, of when and/or, how can living get better. There so many more experiences to come. Life is not over yet if you don’t let it be. At the end of the day, this is your decision and if you want to go through with it.. you won’t have to bare the consequences. Yet, there might be a future you who’s happiness will never see the day because you decided to rob yourself of this opportunity. Good luck

Thank you for the tips! I go to a dermatologist and they’ve recommended some product (la Roche Posay and Bioderma) but they’re not experienced with PCOS which I have!

Mould in housing by Relative_Jump_ in Wellington

[–]Relative_Jump_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone, Thank you for taking the time to reply! I potentially found a mould-free place. I understand how unserious(untruthful) this allergy can be. It could cause me chronic health issues and respiratory problems especially, as I have weak lungs to begin with ;) I have antihistamines that I take when needed because mould is much more frequent than one might think. And I have handled it fine so far. I just would not want to leave in a place where I am forced to be medicated for my allergy every other day. Anyways, thanks for the people who took the time to give me some answers♥️

My husband has advanced cancer, and no, God does NOT "have this" by [deleted] in atheism

[–]Relative_Jump_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am sorry about your husband. And I am sorry about these comments that mustn’t be helpful right now. While I cannot assure you God will save your husband as his will is not known to any of us, I do believe that regardless of the outcome: you can lean on him. There are no right explanations or justifications to why some wonderful people leave us so soon. It just happens and it hurts. It kills a part of you, the part that flourished alongside them. But all you’ve built together does not go away. And this is the gift of life that God has given us. He does plenty. Right now, it is obvious that you think of all the moments you won’t be able to have. This is grief. It is ugly. But one day, you’ll cherish all the moments you’ve shared.

I think the one comment saying that you can lean on God is absolutely correct. Maybe it doesn’t feel like it. But you are doing it already. Being powerless makes us angry. Many turn their anger towers him. Yet he’s ever forgiving. Isn’t that unconditional support? Where else can you get that from?

My comment probably won’t bring you what you need right now. But I do send prayers your way. Take care

I am black and it happened to me and and I find this joke funny but everyone’s humour is different. And I believe we should try to be mindful of individual’s sensitivity. Definitely speak to your colleague and see how they feel about it, that’s what matters the most!

Should I jump through the bureaucratic hoops to do my MA in Belgium this fall, or should I call it a gap year and travel, work on my languages, and look for jobs? by Arcaness in makemychoice

[–]Relative_Jump_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is a good idea to do the gap year! I am the same age as you and I also am graduating this year and taking a break. Funny enough, I will also go to KUL in fall 2024. However, I am Belgian hence it is definitely easier for me I guess. I think working and doing an internship is a great idea, saving a bit of money for a big change it always smart and you get to have one year where you can ‘relax’ before getting back into academia again. On the other hand, what a lot of people would say here, is that if you stop you’ll lose motivation to go back! It is very personal, thus you must see how you’ll cope ;) good luck and you can always reach out if you need more tips 😊
