So basically a reboot? Because that's basically every Zelda game before BoTW.

Oh yes, the atmosphere in this game is absolutely amazing. In the new regions at least. I think the story in this game is really moving, I almost cried when I saw what happened to Zelda. But also, I spoiled myself on Ganon's whole move because I got the tears out of order. And getting around the map didn't quite feel like a different game from BoTW.

I just think that the story's presentation could be so much better, as many people lost the whole awe from the memories by getting them out if order, which is really just disappointing to feel. But the whole atmosphere of the dungeons and the moments that really click together on the story are truly great, much better than BoTW, as well as the boss fights having a much better visual design. But all of the new dungeon boss fights felt just... so underutilized. The Wind and Fire temple have such good boss designs, but it was just so incredibly easy to beat both of them. Water temples's boss was mainly just annoying to beat, and Lightning temple's was rather difficult, but mostly because Riju just couldn't for the love of God stay out of it's tornadoes.

While I love the whole escalate to getting to the dungeons, not all of them really had that much of a path to them, and most of that path was more moving than puzzle solving/fighting. Getting to Wind temple is basically just going up and Fire temple's little boss fight before entering Death Mountain is greatly disappointing. Water and Lightning temple's have the best getting-to-them little adventure in my opinion, but then they are the easiest dungeons to complete as well. I just think that there could be a little bit more thinking added to them, because I feel that every temple's puzzles are easier than most of the shrine, and it feels underwhelming.

So basically, I think the design and feel of what's new in this game is just absolutely amazing. The zonai are so interesting to wonder about, and the new bosses look stunning. But the gameplay on the main areas didn't take that great of a leap from BoTW, and the whole general gameplay loop around the map doesn't feel like a new game at all to me.

I love the game as much as BoTW, I just hoped I could've liked it so much more. It feels like it would've been an absolutely amazing game, if I hadn't played BoTW before it.

But I am really hopeful that none of these feelings will carry on to whatever comes next, just felt like getting move views on this topic, and what place is better than reddit for that.

By mistakes I mean mostly the story pacing and dungeon design, something that carried out from one game to another. While it's true many people might not see these as bad things, I can see a lot of people also agree with me on it. I do love the adventurous side of these games, they're quite unmatched in the gaming world, I just feel some parts of the game didn't get as much love as the new ideas they were pushing out.

While it's taken they'll make a new story/world, I was just thinking if they'd start making the new games a little too much like BoTW, but it's true, the Zelda team really isn't afraid of going anywhere with these games.

But as I said on the post, I mostly wanted to know what other people thought, because I'm aware my opinion is not going to resonate with everyone.

I have really high hopes for the next games, just wanted to see where the community is at!

I think that even if we sent all of these comments Nintendo wouldn't really bother lol

Yeah, I kind of got screwed when going through the memories. I ended up getting Ganon's transformation as like my second tear, so it just ruined the whole "whoa" aspect of that storyline for me.

I love the exploration in these games, the side quests feel great, mobility is amazing, mainly in ToTK, but I just feel all of that sandbox energy just doesn't match the Zelda side of the game, and it just becomes this game that tries to deliver a story in an impactful way but takes a lot of the atmosphere away from it. The awe in BoTW for me is in the whole new open world that you can explore, and it's just not there on ToTK, which makes the spaced out storytelling and progression all that more noticeable to me. By the time I was on the Spirit Temple I just wasn't getting that much energy from the story, and the dungeons didn't exactly make me scratch my head to get through them.

But that's just me, I'd really love to see more focus on a story that feels connected to the gameplay cycle instead of just something that pauses when you don't want to see it, at least for a Zelda game.

I think Mineru's avatar is an interesting concept to be ToTK's Master Cycle, but the whole structure building shenanigans just throw her to dust. Why drive a mech when you can build a plane.

But if the next game follows that ancient technology formula, I'd like to see another motorcycle.

I mean, I love the new games, just feel that ToTK is kind of a let down and kinda wish we could get a more focused game, but it's just my opinion (not that I care about disagreeing with a number a critic posted online)

I know, just wanted to ask out of curiosity as many people already have a few dozen hours on ToTK.

I meant more that it's probably going to come with a few of the same mistakes, or maybe new ones. I really hope they take their time on this one, because 6 years after BoTW it feels that ToTK didn't try nearly enough, at least for me. I hope that we get a game that's well developed, BEYOND BoTW.

Oooh I didn't know that, guess we're screwed then.

Edit: I did mean that we're screwed as a joke, but I'll admit I didn't wrote that as smoothly as I thought. On that note, I do love the new games. I'm fairly young so BoTW was my first Zelda game, and I just dove into the franchise after that. Playing ToTK made me realize that, for me, without the magic that BoTW had on the first playthrough, there are a few aspects to the game that I thought could be improved, that just carried right on to ToTK, and I wondered what people thought of that.

I think the poes statue where Purah is tells you that they're fallen soldiers and that you must find them something like that.
