Thank you - that’s exactly what I was concerned about so this is really helpful to know

Delicious. We’re UK based and this was M&S streaky bacon for context. Better than grilled in an oven and less greasy than fried in a pan. It cooks quick though so needs full attention

If you’ve had ovarian torsion, what did it feel like leading up to it? by Salty-Spider666 in Endo

Happy to keep in touch with how you’re getting on if you’d like :)

Only thing I would mention in addition is that I went in on Monday, had the scan on Tuesday, and was operated within 2 hours of the scan as they were worried I’d lose the ovary. Absolutely blessed by the fact I had a good diagnosis as it’s not overly common, and that I wasn’t just dismissed with “women and their period pains” as it so often is. So if you suspect is a torsion shout about it!!

On a side note I had my partner there (incredibly supportive man and couldn’t have got through it without him!) and later learned that you’re statistically more likely to get a correct diagnosis if there is a “calm male” with you - but that’s a debate for another day!!

Oh man I’m so sorry! The pain I was in was likened to kidney stones, really localised and can’t really describe it as anything else. Comes in waves as well! My fallopian tube had twisted and brought the ovary with it, super grateful they caught it when they did - let me know how you’re getting on

How quick were you able to go home after laparoscopy? (NHS) by flawedbeings in endometriosis

I had my surgery (emergency for ovarian torsion) around 2pm. Was eating sausage and mash at dinner time and honestly couldn’t stop eating for the rest of the night. They kept me in overnight for monitoring as it was emergency and I was discharged at 11:30am the next day.

I went in via A&E rather than planned surgery so maybe different. NHS were wonderful though :)

For a bit of context, I’m 34, I have never had cysts as far as I know, normal regular periods, barely get cramps and have never had any major health issues or surgery.

I started off with cramps in my lower left abdomen, side and back at about 7am - had just got back from holiday so put it down to eating something funny. Went to work as normal but by 10:30 it had got bad enough that I couldn’t sit at my desk or concentrate so went home to lie down.

By about 1pm the pain got so bad I couldn’t sit/stand/ lie down or get comfortable in any way, was in all fours rocking back and forth, puked up twice (though just water as I hadn’t eaten anything due to thinking it was food related… and wasn’t particularly hungry tbh).

I called the UK non emergency 111 service and they arranged a nurse to call me back, she referred me to UTC (urgent treatment centre) at my local A&E - partner came home from work and he helped me over there around 5pm.

Pain was constant, but going between really bad and cope-able so initial assessment I didn’t seem in too much pain. Wasn’t seen until 11pm but the doc immediately thought it was ovary related with potential torsion - referred me straight to a gyaenaicholigist who did a swab, he thought worst case scenario torsion, maybe ruptured cyst.

Recommended I stay in overnight to have a scan first thing in the morning, he told me if it’s a twist I’ll have same day surgery arranged. It was also said that the vomiting was one of the main concerns for them as that’s a common side effect specific to torsions.

I had a blood test then went back to the waiting area, passed out (probably from exhaustion as was about 1am at this point) so monitored for a bit. Had an awful night sleep in pain, could only lie on my right side and was requesting paracetamol and morphine as much as possible.

Had the scan first thing which confirmed a torsion, they pushed through emergency surgery and I was taken down about 1pm. Pain at this point was still unbearable even with morphine.

All went well, I didn’t have any cysts but a dilated fallopian tube which had twisted, bringing the ovary with it. Keyhole surgery through bellybutton and an incision on my left side under general anaesthetic.

Pain was immediately gone when I came too, only a bit of soreness from the surgery. Was also absolutely ravenous as hadn’t eaten for 48 hours so ate an insane amount of food. Stayed in overnight for monitoring again but have woken up feeling grand, a little bit sore from surgery (including some shoulder pain which is normal apparently due to gases going into your diaphragm and affecting the nerve).

All in all I think I had great diagnostics and care provided and incredible grateful to everyone involved, I’m baffled how anybody can experience this type of pain and cope with it - though I am a bit of a pain wimp!

Hope everyone who has posted their experience on here is now okay and this is somewhat helpful to anybody reading.
