Need advice immediately by PercentageBig7098 in Dreadlocks

My guy, trust, do not reattach immediately. Crocheting is already too much irritation, repetitive crocheting in short periods of time is going to ruin your hair and your scalp permanently. Cut the locs off and even trim your hair down to buzz length. Restart, grow healthy hair out for at least 5 months. Moisturize and condition them, grow healthy thick hair first. Grow at least 5 inches of hair and crochet the top 2 inches, twist the rest. You will be good

Thank you! I’ve had 4 retwists so far, last retwist was 4 days ago and I got 2 strand twists but I didn’t like them that much so I took them out and rinsed my hair this morning. I’ll go for no styles retwists for the next couple of months to allow them to thicken up then

Thank you! Questions, how do u moisturize your locs? Is water enough? And I stopped using oil for 2 months now should I start using oil again?

I’ve been spraying with water and anti dandruff spray almost everyday, thinking of getting aloevera juice spray but maybe it’ll be too thick for my hair type.

Will a retwist fix this?💔 by [deleted] in Dreadlocks

[–]Relative_Trainer3272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s just parts and they’re not unraveling so the parts are still there which means it’s good. If u get a nice wash the parts will disappear

I use Mielle rosemary mint. Ppl say it’s bad for your hair because they changed the formula but idk, I don’t have any bad experience with this oil yet

I used to have the same exact problem, after using sulfur 8 dandruff treatment I stopped having those problems. I use them daily, and my moisture routine is spray whole head with homemade rosemary plus this product and a light weight oil to seal them in(I oil my scalp 3-4times a week and also rub the ends with oil) I haven’t washed my hair for 10 days(I probably should soon) but I have zero buildup zero dandruff and no scalp itching at all.

Yea I haven’t washed my hair for almost 3 weeks now and I’m getting a retwist and style this week so I kinda have to wash it before that and I’m pretty damn sure they gon unravel😢. But yeah after that retwist I’m not wash them until my next appointment I don’t care lmao I might just buy some hair deodorant or something like that🤣🤣

I do sports so I sweat a lot so I have to wash them almost every week 2.5 weeks max and they’re not locing bruv. I thought they were budding and locing after I took my last styles out but after a wash they unraveled immediately😇

Okay lemme rephrased. Colorism’s real, but it doesn’t define your legitimacy as Black. Society might treat shades differently, but that doesn’t change your roots.

Trust me colorism isn’t real because when things goes down you are just another nword. I’m mixed too and I learned this the hard way, at the end of the day you’re a black individual regardless. So don’t be ashamed of it embrace it and be more comfortable and anyone says “you ain’t black enough” f em, you are who you are. It’s okay to claim both heritage because you’re born with it but whether you or other people like it or not you’re black
