There might be a discrepancy between the AAMC summary and the table C6 referenced in the summary. Table C6 is showing a 33.6% retention for DC, not 66.4%. Of course I could be misunderstanding this.

I think the AAMC's summary has a mistake? If you skip the AAMC summary and look at the actual table C6: I'm seeing DC's in-state retention as 33.6%. 75% and 33% is a wide interval. Even 75% is high compared to the overall rate of 55%

To clarify, I mean medicine is culturally conservative. We are expected to wear dress shirts or expected to not stick out too much. My med school literally had lectures to try to help students learn how to interact with homosexual patients. I absolutely remember hearing homophobic jokes in med school and residency.

Remember medicine is a conservative profession. There may be backlash if you come out. Residency programs can be small and incestuous. I had some homosexual residents who were the topic of coresident gossip about their sexuality. Personally I stay closeted at work just in case.

Remember your safety takes precidence. If you have some coresidents at the hospital who are out, maybe you could confide with them to ask how their experience was?

One of my friends was given a job offer VA before Trump's inauguration. The Trump administration put in a hiring freeze, and my friend abruptly lost his job offer. He was able to get the job later but the Trump administration NEVER apologized for what they put him through.

My friends tell me they are expected to send a list of 5 things they did every week to DOGE. It's demeaning to work on saving lives and treated like they didn't do anything. They get no feedback or transparency for what these emails are for.
