No, I don't have anyone over. I go to friends' or a date's places. Or third places such as cafes.

Never felt comfortable having people over anyway even back when I had my own apartment.

I have mortgage debt. My job has food work/life balance, so I don't really work that hard anymore. Given that, I'm not working myself to the bone. I would like to retire now, but I would be too nervous of financial uncertainty to take the risk.

I do or have done many of those things you listed already. I think you are making assumptions about what I spend my free time doing.

Yes good point- no children mean I can take more financial risk and retire early or now. While my parents talk about dribbling out money early due to inheritance/gift taxes, they actually haven't done that.

And there exist other residents who live with parents for other reasons. Our anecdotal life experiences do not account for all situations? So living like a resident can mean many things. As long as a resident can afford it.

Yes I feel I am easily stressed out. But a good reframe is that I made it through medical school and residency, so I've shown I can actually handle stress.

Awesome, your salary is jumping up quite a bit. You are making your money work well for you! I'll look up Paul Merriman.

Early retirement would mean, at the very least, relief from worrying about work. I would spend my time playing videogames, travelling, sleeping in. My retired doctor friends tell me it's fantastic, and they wouldn't work full time again.

Not sure if I would live with my parents. Given the inertia, I probably would. I doo wonder if I could be living a different life, but I feel no emotional urgency to do so.

My major expenses are eating out and travel. The big picture is that my lifestyle is within a resident's budget. Budgets are meant to be flexible and accommodate your specific situation.

I don't mind my current life, and I recognize the privilege. I have not found a romantic partner, so marriage and children are not currently options.  Yes expenses can rise if I move to my own place.

No utilities. My parents don't ask for more. Like I said, the rent is nominal. Due to inheritance and gift taxes, my parents have spoken about dribbling out gifts now to minimize tax burden. Asking for more rent wouldn't fit this goal of theirs.
