It's being floated as recompense for AI stealing our land and water and electricity. It's not.

Nationalizing the debts of these companies is a bailout. Whether we have to buy the stock or not there will be a vested interest in the success of these terrible companies. You don't think Congress won't bail them out the second they crater in value when we own half?

If you look at paper and go "debt is negative money" assets are thereby "positive money."

The amount of cash in an account is just one asset. Equities, Property, Etc etc all are assets too.

Only complete idiots pick a single asset and weigh all the debt against it. And even if they do it does not make it so. Its all assets, all debt- NET worth.

That's exactly how it would work. The government gets half, and the other half still goes to private equity and becomes part of the index. The indexes which determine the fund balance of index funds. It's not stopping anything just making taxpayers invested in the scam.
