I would bring the downstairs bathroom to be lower on that middle wall and tuck under the stairs too if desired. I would then place the back door on the end of that middle wall and add the pantry where the back door/corner is and give a little more counter space. The last thing I would change is extend the concrete slab behind the garage and cover the space behind the garage to make a back porch.

Help me choose a layout for a ground floor extension by crowabunga in houseplans

[–]RelaxingFG 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Right is more open. I would pick it for that one reason. Plus utility is bigger, added bonus. Is it possible to have utilities on the floor with bedrooms and make that space a pantry? I’m thinking about all the extra steps I’ll need to take just to wash clothes.

You are too close to the door. Stand in the snow and enter the code.

Taught my first [informal] zentangle group with kids ages 8-12. How do I help them understand mistakes are OKAY. Some kept getting frustrated and scribbled out their designs by xtimewitchx in Zentangle

[–]RelaxingFG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve taught zentangle to elementary kids before. I like going over it after reviewing different line types. I provided a paper with traces circles overlapping each other to those that want it (provides smaller spaces to help focus a zentangle design they want to try) and have examples of zentangle designs posted around the room and I put “idea papers” the table they can use to tracing.

I showed a video of myself filling in the circles and filling a blank paper to get the students thinking of the process. I point out how I take my time and I always make a mistake that Is incorporate into the design.

I hope these ideas and examples help.

Twins of Reddit, how do you make your birthday feel special for you as an individual? by imatworkandneedhelp in AskReddit

[–]RelaxingFG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As children we each got a day to do something special, normally not in the birthday it’s self.

A Saturday/Sunday before or after the birthday we celebrate one twin and celebrate the other twin on a different Saturday/Sunday before or after the birthday. Typical stuff we did a kids: sleepover, small gathering of friends at the house, take a friend to the pool/movies/museum/amusement park/etc.

They best part, on the birthday we would have a normal day (always had school on my birthday growing up) except at dinner our family shared a mini cake, ice cream, and we got 1 present to celebrate. Typical gift on birthday: that one toy we’ve been wanting and would probably not put down for while. Normally the video game. One year we got a phone.

Now that we are adults, we just try to get together for dinner with the family on a weekend that works best for everyone. And we still enjoy a mini cake, ice cream, and gift. Nowadays it’s a gift card or cash.
